This pet is chosen among four vanity pets as a reward after completing a chain of Children's Week quests that begin in Outland. These quests may be accessed by characters level 60+. See the Guide to Children's Week for a detailed walkthrough of this chain. Other rewards for the final quest include Peanut, Willy, and Legs. Collecting all four pets on the same character is possible (over the course of four years) since the quests are repeatable each year.

This has been the best pet to have out when walking around or dungeoning since it came out in TBC. He never ceases to get a smile out of me now and then. I do still need to get him into some pet battles to see how I like him in that aspect.

I had all the critters I want to level 25 and didn't need any new ones but after getting a Critter Training Stone from the Pet Menagerie Daily Quest 5 Days in a row and I used them on all on Egbert I decided to just level this guy to 25 :D

When I was raiding a lot in Wrath, I brought this guy out and was kicked due to the other players starting not realizing we weren't going yet. Was too funny and earned a No Egbert ban on future raids. LoL.

I'm seeing lots of comments about how cute or weird this guy is, but nothing about how is as a fighter.  Egbert (boosted to rare w/ a stone) was my first lvl 25.  He hits like a truck, especially against critters, which you're fighting a lot as a new pet tamer.  His shield mitigates tons of damage, and he has a Feign Death ability which not only allows you to avoid big dmg abilities like Whirlpool or Burrow but also gives you a free swap (no free hit) with your highest HP pet.

lol this one makes me laugh every time I bring him out. The first time I got him and he decided to run off on me I thought it was a bug! I love how insane it looks with its eyes bulging out like it overdosed on Caffeine.

Eh, dont know if its been noticed but I think little Eggy might be a Swift Pink Hawkstrider hatchling. Makes me wonder about the hawkstrider breeders if there turning out so many crack hatchlings....

It seems that whenever Egbert starts running around, he runs in the same rate his master is able too.

For example, If I can walk in 100% speed, Egbert will run around at 100% speed too.
If I have a debuff that reduces my speed by 50%, Egbert will run with -50% speed too.
If I'm mounted, and I can go at 200% speed, so will Egbert.

And so on.

No matter how many times you see this little crack baby sprint right at a boss when his ADD kicks in, sooner or later it will give you a near-heart attack for fear of aggro.

The sin'dorei use hawkstriders as mounts, but this little one was deemed unfit after being diagnosed with numerous anxiety disorders.
