There was a world quest (Witchy Kitchen) up in the Waycrest Manor dungeon, so I went. As soon as we killed one of the target mobs in the kitchen, a Delicious Chicken showed up on the floor with a quest, giving Cutting Edge Poultry Science.

Well, at least I'm gonna get the Frost Whelpling fairly easily simply because I'm lucky and one of my alts is a frost death knight with all traits on live. Not looking forward to wasting AP by sinking it into weapons I'm literally never going to use just for the other two pets, though.

It's certainly DOABLE - on my main I have two weapons at 35 and I by no means grind AP all day every day - but it's still kinda asinine to require this just for pets. I get that it's class flavour but... :(
