I didn't see many of these at first. I followed the water, killing all of the shimmering oozlings and shifting mierglobs as I went as well as any aquatic battle pets along the way (Huge toads, water snakes, strand crabs as well as swamp moths) Respawns included more moccasins and they were always in the water. Hope this helps!

Rares DO exist! Stick to the upper mountains. 

Also secondary to Fire Beetles, Molten Hatchlings and Ash Spiderlings.

Was able to get a green today by walking out onto the fel-barrier to the right as you go down into the cellar and targeting a restless shadeling through the barrier and engaging in battle.  When the battle ended, it pulled me through to the other side of the barrier.
