It was meant to be. One of the first reward bags I got contained a Dragonkin stone. Went to Coldarra, tamed a gray P/P Nexus Whelpling, stoned him to blue, and he is my go-to lead-off pet for most situations. Especially all the flyers in Draenor. :)
