I got her as a hunter and as a minipet now. They look so pretty!
It's easy to camp her, I just kept logging out in her cave and came back once and again to check if she's there.
Note that you cannot target her with /tar command when standing in the great cave. When I found her the first time I checked with the command, but then luckily decided to use Eagle Eye to be certain -- and there she was, sitting in the far end of the tunnel.

I love this pet. I used to farm for it for hours, then give up, forget about it for a couple of months and then start again reapetedly over a course of three years. One day I decided to ultimately farm as long as it would take. I spent three evenings in the swamps, missing out on everything my guild was up to. On the fourth day I opened my mail to find the whelpling inside, send by an guildmate who claimed that he was "passing by" the swamps and thought he would bring something along for me. :)
