Are you 100% sure on that statement "If you already have one, you'll receive a second" as I tried to claim the pet and was presented with a message saying I already had it :/

In light of the previous comments, I can add this:

I watched these guys for over 3 hours, and can safely say that killing stuff around the area makes NO difference at all. I watched them pop in and out of the snow, usually around the trees and on a number of occasions the battle pet spawned right next to an existing critter and that one disappeared. There's also a couple of spawn points in the west, in an area that looks like a C in the snow.

I managed to cheese a rare one of these by using CRZ to my advantage! Parked a level 1 alt up in Sindragosa's Fall, and grouped with a level 1 alt on numerous different servers till I found one with a ton of whelps alive :)

Took me 3 attempts (level 1 goes omnomnom to dwagguns) to get one, but it was a rare!

Hard work, but I'm finally done camping it

p.s. It's an AWESOME pet for bragging rights, tons of /w on my server ^^
