Saw a Silkbeard Snail near the end of No'losh's path I rushed to get to it, agroed No'losh, and used an Area Effect and killed it. Not sure if the Shadow Sporebat would have been with it or not, but I was very frustrated. Lesson Learned...
Update: Got it after the server maintenance. I was up to at the station, found a poor, and then since no one else was around I made it down by No'losh and got a common. I also checked the snails and it seems the sporebat is not with it.
Snowfall Alcove is abundant with these critters. Don't waste your time trying to find a rare Frostfur Rat as a secondary pet to something like an Icespine Hatchling, for instance. Go directly to Snowfall Alcove and surrounding areas and you'll find them at the bases of the trees.
They are all ove the zone, and very easy to find multipule rares.
Secondary pets include:
Rat
Fire-Proof Roach
Twilight Wasp
Frostfur Rat
I was getting frustrated with this one. Not only are they rare to find, but you have to fight 3-5 mobs to get to most of them, and then occationally they die because of some kind of arial effect while fighting. SO I noticed that they sometimes are a secondary, and I camped by Gorespine where all the Silent Hedgehogs are. I farmed the Silent Hedgehogs until I found my rare Amber Moth. Appeared with a rare Silent Hedgehog.
Anyone have a spawn timer on these? I've been waiting about 25 30 minutes now and no respawns.
This pet is one of my FAVORITE battle pets. It eats critters. Take him out for a stroll once. I've seen mine eat a small frog and a emerald boa.
The best place to farm these little guys is right next to Gorespine. There are usually 6-8 that spawn around him, and they respawn within 5-10 minutes. This is where I found my rare.
Since I was spending A LOT of time in the Ghostlands looking for a rare Larva, I started to battle everything I ran across and level up my lower level pets. I found the Larva as a secondary to a small frog. It suprised me, but now I read that other people found it with the spirit crabs, so don't give up hope finding that rare - just battle everything. :)
So...another website said that it was a .18% chance of getting it from Nyxondra's Brood in Bad Lands. I figured that was about 1 in 555. I got myself ready for a long night (or multipule nights of farming) and I got it on my 18th kill...guess 18 is my lucky number for now.
Funny - wish I would have known that I couldn't redeem this until 5.2 BEFORE I went throguh all the hassle...Oh well....just can't lose my code I guess...
Does someone know aprox. what the spawn timer is on these guys? I went through a whole patch of them and found no rare. I would like to know how long I need to wait for the next batch.
I had one book and then I was camping, and circuiting...and it just wasn't paying off. THEN the rolling restart uccured! My sugestion is to log on immediatly after the rolling restart - get the pattern down so you can do it in just a couple minutes. I got FIVE of them at the rolling restart (several were junk). I only have 2 left now. I'll park my character by one, and every time I log on, I'll check them, but I'm looking forward to the next rolling restart.
♦♦♦♦Can anyone confirm that these are always primary and never secondary battle pets?♦♦♦♦
I just found 3 level 1 Gilded Moths in Front of Shrine of 7 Stars. I should have cought one instead of just a screen shot. And yes, you read that right, LEVEL 1! So odd.
UPDATE: I caught myself a level 1 gilded moth.
I have not seen them outside of New Tinkertown, and specifically the Toxic Airfield, dispite other sources saying they are in patches around Dun Morogh.
I created about 6-7 random gnomes before I found a rare. I ran out to the Airstrip with all but one. I kept them so I knew which realms I tired, and so I could easily log on later if I wanted to retry, but I didn't have to, so now they will be deleted.
Found mine at 4:27 AM CST, south of the path that goes through the area. It looked much like the piles of eggs that are all around only it had tufts of the nest around it. I was actually shocked as how fast I found it, because I had been trying for days to find one.
I love the Ice Tomb ability. I've won MANY battles with it.
I love the Devour ability on this pet. I can typically go many rounds without having to heal it.
Flew into Deadwind Pass at 3:30 AM CST on a Sunday, they were all over the place. They respawned until about 3:37.
If you are Alliance and have a flying mount, there is a shortcut: take the portal in the mage tower in Stormwind to the Blasted Lands, and then fly over the mountians. You can multi-task this one - while in the Blasted lands you can check for the Scorpling on the mesa near the portal, and do the daily pet battle in Deadwind Pass as well as the Restless Shadeling.
Did this two nights at 2AM CST. They appear like clockwork. They continue spawning for about 20 minutes. Both nights I was the only one there and was able to battle (or check) every single spawn in both cellars. The first night there wasn't a rare, but I got one the second night.
For those that are Alliance and have a flying mount, there is a nice shortcut: In Stormwind's Mage tower there is a portal to the Blasted Lands and then you just fly over the mountians.
Been looking for a rare for hours and days. Anyone know of a way to increase chances of getting a rare?
UPDATE: I finally found my rare. I went there about an hour or two after server maintenance on a Tuesday. I found my rare after about 5 tries. There were many more Snowy Owls than usual, as well.
Back after quite a few years away - trying to catch up on the battle pets. At one point I only had one capturable battle pet left to capture...now I feel beind.
