Crysa was right where everyone said she was (Northern Barrens, 63 35) and the Nexus Whelpling did, indeed, take care of the first two pets. I followed up with Graves and had my Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling in reserve. Not much in the reward bag today but I will be seeing Crysa daily as long as it takes to get my albino buzzard. :^) Update: Started this quest 11/3/16 and *JUST* got the buzzard to drop (1/2/17) after daily battles. So glad to be done with this.
So...I play on Thorium Brotherhood. Last evening, as I ran up the path on the mountain (starts at 39, 32 near a broken column as somebody else mentioned), I came across quite a few of these. The higher I went, the better quality they became. I collected a poor, common, and uncommon in that order (ditching the lower quality ones as I went). There were a bunch more this morning when I was looking for the Kingfeather spawn but never found a rare Oliveback or Kingfeather spawn.
This was the only pet standing between me and the 'World Safari' achievement. While I was working on quests in Uldum, I ran over to Tanaris every 30-45 min. It took 2 days to catch a sandstorm but I was the only one there so had the liberty of keeping the first one I caught (poor) and then continuing to battle 'til I found a rare. That took maybe 20 minutes. I will admit to making it easier by using the pet team I had for Uldum so I went through the lower level pets much more quickly.
I think they might have addressed the issue of just leaving Leoric to fight unattended. After a short period of inactivity, I was removed from the game. I could reenter the game after noticing that I'd been removed but am bummed 'cuz I paid real money to get Leoric...wasn't accummulating gold fast enough. I found I did much better when I stayed with a character similar to what I play on WoW (ranged). Glad I have the little guy but hope, as others have said, that I never have to see HOtS again.
I showed up to do my dailies to gather the tokens and found that somebody else had dropped a crate. I read somewhere that they spawn 7-9 rodents/crate. Either that has changed with a patch or there was a glitch because I battled about a dozen...eventually ended up with a lvl 22 and lvl 23 uncommon (one balance and one health). While I was disappointed that I didn't find a rare, the pet charms in Draenor will fix that. I *did* get one of each color.
So glad I read up on this lady as soon as I saw the "missing" icon on my map. Because of that, as luck would have it, I paid attention when I was flying over the first location I came across, found one, and it turned out to be an uncommon. Makes me *really* happy since I have a ton of pet charms burning a hole in my backpack. As soon as I get back to my garrison, I'll be upgrading her.
I had a terrible time finding one of these even though I engaged every battlepet I came across in Evermorn. I *finally* found one but it was of poor quality. Under the theory of "a poor quality pet is better than none at all", I kept it. At the end of the fight, as somebody else mentioned, I got a battle stone and immediately upgraded it to rare so I'm doing the happy dance now!
After weeks of grinding--at least an hour/day--and >20K kills, I was wealthy from selling all the cloth and leather I collected. (I was at that really good spot in the Wetlands just SW of the Dragonmaw Gate and SE of the Greenwarden's Grove.) Still no crimson whelpling although I got the dark whelpling fairly quickly. I was fortunate that somebody in my guild found the crimson whelpling while farming for cloth and gave it to me because he doesn't care anything about the battle pets.
Totally bummed that there's no way to acquire this beauty. Sigh...better luck next time???
Happy to have lots of new pets to chase down in Legion!
