Found my Shadow Sporebat today at about 5:15 PM server time on Whisperwind. It wasraining and there was about 7 of them up. I caught mine right in the tower floating around. There were several along the trails below and near the elite strider.

 

I've been hunting this guy about 30 hours. At about 3am I found a singular paw print in the cave below the tower, but it was only a Silkbead Snail (TEASE!). It was NOT raining any other time I've come and looked. Coincidence, not sure. Maybe there is something to it!

Whisperwind Server, around 5:05pm. Pretty sure I REALLY lucked out!

 

Only took me about 10 casts. I was in the little pool under the "R" in Peaks of Serenity fishing the Tiger Guorami pools. Fished up a "Flying Tiger Guorami" on my first cast. Perhaps the fact that it's empty and not fished much has something to do with it I don't know but I hope it helps someone else! :)

There are a handful of these near 'Whitepetal Lake', where some of the Golden Lotus' dailies used to take place. Currently I'm trying to cycle through them and get a rare to help me battle some Master Tamers in Pandaria (the one with the singing sunflower pet, the turnip and the worm...ugh). But I saw around 6 there. If you're looking for one, this is a good spot.

I tried farming this pet some time ago, to no avail for a couple of weeks until I tried that macro that Harliequinne stated below me.

 

So 12:16pm server/central time on Whisperwind, I flew around Forward Command as was suggested by other commenters. Killed the first giraffe targeted by said macro, and less then 10 seconds later, a giraffe calf pet spawned. To my absolute delight--it was a rare! So if you're having trouble, try it, it absolutely helps! Happy farming!
