After catching a couple of Scarlapods (which I posted about on that page) that showed up after world quests, I caught a Lithengale right before doing a regular quest. I guess the moral of the story is: always mouse over those vignettes.
I read all the comments here about killing Cobbleshells for hours and decided against doing so myself. So I went off and did a nearby world quest and BOOM there it was, a poor quality H/B. I guess I killed quite a few Cobbleshells while I was killing everything else.
Edit: A second showed up after another world quest. My Scarlapod now has a friend.
If you're hunting for both skins: Capture one and put it in your party. That way you can compare other wild Kindlets with the one in your party.
(About Lilithsboy's comment) It actually does make sense to find them near lava. Palamanther's are clearly based on salamanders, which were traditionally fire elementals (despite being amphibians and living near water).
I have a rare H/H, and it's pretty much become my favorite pet. Other pets may look so much nicer than this glob of black, but this little guy consistantly takes down whole 3 pet parties without need to switch.
Finally found one and jumped into battle. Only poor, but I'm not going to pass it up considering how long I've been looking. Anubisath Idol hit it once 25%, again 25%, again KRACKTOW!!!! OMG WTH!!! I think I just had a heart attack!!! I wanted it just a bit lower, not critted to death!!! Unborn Val'kyr came back to life with 8hp. THANK THE WOW GODS!!! But oh my giddy heart...
Was just casually completing the candy buckets on my DK last night so I could get the new pets when I decided, "Since I'm flying over I might as well turn Track Pets on." (Most of my pet battling is done on my mage, that's why it's off on my DK.) Turned it on and noticed a paw print right next to me on the map. Moused over and it read, "Minifernal". O_O Just sitting there, no one else around... and green quality! Happy.
Read that killing other pets in the zone had a chance of spawning this one, so I did one lap around the area while leaving dead critters in my wake. Came back to the spawn spot and found someone else battling it.
Urgh...
So ten mins later I did another lap around the area, once again murdering innocent pets. Came back and found the SAME GUY camping the spot.
ahahaha...NO! I shall not be doing his dirty work for him again! Logged.
I use this pet to help level other pets, and now that it has Starfall it does the bulk of the battling to capture pets as well (Moonfire would occationally oneshot a pet while Starfall does pinprick damage).
Fear not Starfall: if you capture a pet and then accidentally kill it with Starfall, you will still get the pet. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to release the poor beetle I made the test on...
Bloodsail Admiral am I, and adventured across open sea and land along side my trusty parrot have I. But alas my hat he is much too fond of and of it no longer am I. The smell of my adventuring and of things worse hangs heavy about it. So I tasked myself to find another such companion to accompany me while I in my cleaner wear, even if be he only poor. I found such a rare friend, and his rare cockroach friend, and as thanks for his friendhship I have sacrificed his friend.
Found one today. At first I felt bad about taking a baby away from its parents... until the parents walked near and were killed by a lion while I was still trying to convice the baby to come with me. Now I feel like I saved the baby's life. After a bit of watching of mobs, I thought I should mention here: One group pats between 44, 79 to 44, 74. One group pats between 45, 87 to 46, 76. One group pats between 47, 84 to 50, 79.
DON'T let the lack of "Teaches you how to summon this pet." flavor text fool you! The Ice Chip item is what you're looking for!
Got this from a Fyrakk Assault in Ohn'ahran Plains.
