I dumped 100K on it today, just because I'm worried about them getting even scarcer if people stop running so many Islands, or if they stay in Classic. My realm is also pretty low pop so I thought I would just jump in while I saw one for sale.

I use Pet Magpie to show me any missing pets that are available on the AH. It's great if you have gold on more than one server as you can enter all the servers you have characters on and it will show the cheapest server price for each pet you need!

So, no, it is not the worst to find, not even slightly. And it is easier since they buffed the number of Scary Sprites that spawn.
