I am having the same issue with renamed pets. I noticed after Patch 7.3.5 that special names were losing capitalization. Lately (FYI after I started using Total RP 3) I notice the issue with names vanishing or being truncated to a letter or two. A reload or relog will seem to fix it, but the moment ...
