BFA's pet content is atrocious. Baa'l is the only decent thing and it's really not enough. If they don't add another Celestial Tournament type thing a content update I'm peacing out on pet battles. I'd like to think there are plenty of interesting pets in BfA. The problem is that we're all so used to the old pets that already work for just about everything that we have little reason to try them out.
