As if there wasn't enough "gotta collect them all" motivation, there is now Pet Battle Rankings based on the levels and quantity of your army on WoW Progress.

Re: This is why you don't battle with a poor pet
I had the issue with the Red Cricket being poor. I'm just hanging on to it until I can upgrade it.

Re: Best Battle Pets
Pandaren Monk is still ridiculously OP. Double damage on the big damage ability WITH a 25% chance to stun. And if it does stun - you can do double damage with the primary attack at level 10.
I also love my Onyxian Whelpling, it is just so solid for capturing high level pets due to the heal.

Re: Your favorite battle pet and why.
Mini Thor - For some reason I got the Starcraft II CE and never installed the game. This guy made it so I have no regrets. He can't heal but his attacks are quite strong and I enjoy putting a bomb on someone to start then switch pets. Onyxian Whelpling - Like a previous poster indicated, this pet i...

Re: Leveling a low Rare vs Catching a high level one.
Typically pets you level from 1 have more diverse/unique abilities than ones you catch in the wild. This isn't a strict rule, but it seems to give you motivation to level pets instead of just taming.

Re: No pets in Storm Peaks
I also observed this. Definitely a phasing issue in some areas. I also think it has something to do with the weather effects.
Vale of Eternal Blossoms also has very sparse pet spawns.

Devouring Maggot
The Devouring Maggot is part of the Northrend Safari achievement. You can find and capture this pet in Howling Fjord but when it is added to your book it does not have a quality color. If you click on it, the name shows blank in the book and has a squirrel picture. The Northrend Safari achievement d...

Brown Marmot
The highest level Brown Marmot you can capture is 18 in Blade's Edge Mountains. There are almost no Marmot spawn points in the zone. If you want to capture one here, they hang out with the Scorpids and Scaled Basalisk Hatchlings.

Snowy Owl?
I spent some time in Winterspring and did not see our friend the Snowy Owl. According to WoWhead he is only around in Winter but I think it is currently "Winter" per Blizzard's definition.
Let me know if anyone spots this guy or has any additional info.
Thanks,
Rune

Re: Game bug/glitches?
There is a pet spawn in Molsen Fields in Westfall that is under the world? I see him on my minimap but not in the world.
Most of the blighthawks in Andorhal in Eastern Plaguelands are phased. I can see them on the edge of Andorhal until I get close and they disappear.

Re: The rarity of certain rare pets
It definitely takes longer for some pets than others. It took me about 3 hours (200 pet battles) to get the Grey Moth in rare form. Typically I am happy to get an "uncommon" pet and move on. If you try to catch a rare of everything it will take an excruciatingly long time.

Re: Picking your first 3 pets for MoP Pet Battles
I would leave out the Smolderweb Hatchling. Spiders are fairly common and you can pick one up with similar abilities later. The other three you selected are all "rare" and have better stats.

Re: Pets: How long till lvl 25.
If you are JUST leveling your pets to 25 (and doing trainers/trainer dailies) I think it is around 10-15 hours depending on your efficiency.

Re: Picking your first 3 pets for MoP Pet Battles
Excellent points. I *almost* added a section about the passives but didn't have strong data to back it up. From my personal beta testing, I really liked the mechanical pet's rez, dragonkin damage, and human health passives in PVE. I also liked having an undead pet in PVP because you essentially get ...

Re: Picking your first 3 pets for MoP Pet Battles
It is possible to recommend specific pets by combining the PVE advantage families with the PVE advantage abilities. I've included 3 pets per family as a starting point. Your selection will be based on the pets you have and personal preference. NOTE: All of the Rare Humanoid and Magic pets are from p...

Re: Picking your first 3 pets for MoP Pet Battles
Now if I haven't totally lost you let's bring in some data about pet abilities. The thing I was most surprised by was the wide diversity of abilities that each pet has, although the abilities are not distributed evenly. For example, the most common ability is the Beast ability Bite which 79 pets hav...

Picking your first 3 pets for MoP Pet Battles
Most of the information that I've seen so far regarding pet battles falls into one of two categories: how to collect pets or the how-to basics of pet battling. What I haven't seen is any guides as far as which pets people should level first. I think this is especially relevant to people looking to s...

Re: Tamer Quests and Info
You have to complete the first quest to unlock pet battles at all and get the Revive Pet ability. After that, you don't have to defeat any trainers. I got mine in beta to 25 without it. Also, the achievements are account-wide so you never have to complete the quests again after the first time (altho...
