Right from day 1, Baby Blizzard Bear and Clockwork Gnome have done wonders for me.
Both have self-heals and can solo just about anything the game can generate in the wild
- what the one can't do, the other can.

Another minor note about Initiative (woo, old school D&D) - when the 2 pets have identical the same speed, it seems there's an unseen coin flip of which goes first (or a pattern I can't discern).

This is working as intended.
Pets ~level 20+ lose 2 levels when captured.
Pets ~level 15-20 lose 1 level when captured.

This has been a problem (or a tooltip error) for a while.

My croc's Rip ability should be inflicting 78 damage per round, but as soon as a Shield-type spell is applied, the DoT stops.
It inflicts NOTHING per round. The rip effect is still there, for the follow-up ability Blood In The Water, however.

This sounds like a brilliant idea. There used to be a /bookclub channel, when the achievement "Higher Learning" (and Dalaran) was all the rage. Hopefully, this will help people nab even a poor version of some pet they are missing.

Gilnean Raven might be an idea - it's a flyer (so it's strong against water types), and the ability "Nevermore" would put the damper on the Crawdad's Wish ability. (it should be faster in combat)
Also, its second tier abilities are anti-healing, as to reduce the amount healed.
