I managed to beat him with a moth against the monkey/tonk, a mongoose against his tonk, and a golden serpent hatchling against his eye. If you can manage to get lucky and put them to sleep or dive/cocoon yourself, the pets themselves are fairly easy to beat. I battled him over and over with frustra...
