Keep in mind that many (most?) of the pets purchasable with polished pet charms can be caged. So it may be a better use of your time to farm gold and buy them on the AH.

Just a thought, but maybe you could try setting up a weather channel (heh) on your server for people to note important pet weather conditions? Kind of like the old Dalaran book channels in Wrath.

I wish they wouldn't put region-specific and unobtainable pets in the pet journal, then. Unless they plan on releasing those pets on the BMAH, all it does is serve as a reminder of something you have no way of acquiring.
