It happened to me too, then I realized that I had over 1000 pets... Put all the other ones in a cage to drop the total below that.. think I did it down to like 950.. Then I could learn them new pets.

Something else to think about :) Chromie Time has opened up entirely new avenues of leveling on the Shadowlands. A lot of folks are using it to level 10 to 50 in just a little under 4 hours through Warlords of Draenor. Battling pets might just be a burdon and slower once it goes live.. who knows..
