You might be better just planting a couple of alts at spawn points and checking every so often. Worked for me.

I'd happily trade 2 critter stones for undead, or for 1 undead and 1 humanoid..

It really does need something doing to it. Right now it's a huge amount of effort for a reward that's often the same junk you get from a single trainer battle.
