The garrison pet battle daily is completely removed from all of my Horde garrisons on the PTR/beta. However, I did try playing with a faction change on beta, and the daily is actually there in the Alliance garrison, so it seems to just be a Horde garrison bug right now.

The problem with comparing the RNG of pet battles to the RNG of getting crits and trinket procs, etc in a raid is that there are many many times the number of events in the course of a boss pull that there is in terms of a pet battle, and the more events you have, the more swings in RNG are leveled ...

I personally just stone whatever I want to have leveled that I can't find a rare version of with one sweep of spawn points on both my main server and my second account that has a L90 on The Venture Co (non CRZ RP-PvP server that is great for finding rare anything on).
