Problem is they go after the buyers because we are the ones giving the gold and I'm sure they care more about the gold exchanging than the item because they can just delete the item. I've been away from the game for four years and since coming back the battle pet system is completely new to me. I remember when I joined this site what an accomplishment it felt like to get all the possible pets that I could without the collectors editions or special release pets in other countries...

Also add to the announcement post, maybe if enough people say something they'll take notice and add a gift option to the checkout process
