Re: Celestial Tourn. Guide
In my eyes, this counts as exploiting.. If it was intended to heal pets like that, there would be no need to make tournament instanced (to prevent heals)... Big thumbs up. Admittedly I've used the healing trick to defeat the Celestial Tournament. Certainly early on. I don't anymore (I have no need ...

Re: Finally got my Stunted Direhorn.
Just out of curiosity, what is a "normal" team, and what were the "BS" teams you faced? Examples of BS teams would be: triple MPD, MPD/Fossilized Hatchling/Weebom, clonedance teams (although these are slightly less offensive), undead goat/weebom/MPD, sunflower/zao/whatever teams, Fiendish Imp/Warbo...

Finally got my Stunted Direhorn.
I started PVP pet battling in late January I think, solely to get this pet. I knew what PVP pet battling would be like... so even though I had been pet battling actively since the start of MoP, I had avoided PVP all that time. It was just as I expected! Full of BS teams and cheap strategies. There w...

Re: Most underrated and overrated pets.
Frostfur Rat is a nice mention. The only difficulty is which breed to get it in. S/S is safe but I went with P/S and generally don't regret it. 309 speed is usually sufficient. Furthermore, he's a critter so he gets used against Undead, who are generally slow with huge health pools, so this breed se...

Re: Most underrated and overrated pets.
For both PVP and PVE I think Unborn Val'kyr takes the cake for most overrated. Due to nerfs over time it is not nearly the threat it used to be in PVP. There are many, many pets I dread more seeing in PVP than the Valk. Also a lot of pet battle noobs get the impression it is downright necessary for ...

Re: Your top 5 pets
Ah, I see you wanted top 5 for pve, and then top 5 for pvp. Well then! PVE: Anubisath Idol, Menagerie Custodian, Onyxian Whelpling, Sprite Darter Hatchling, Sentinel's Companion. PVP: Yu'la, Iron Starlette, Kun-Lai Runt, Teroclaw Hatchling, Hyjal Wisp. Everyone else's answer for the PVP side MUST in...

Re: Draenor Pet Brawler
As you can see, certain aspects about the way this is tracked are really silly. But the biggest offense from grinding out this massive slog (and that is all it is, a massive grind) is that you get a monument in your garrison. Cool, except we've known from the start the garrisons aren't leaving Draen...

Re: Wanted: 5x Kura/Erris 2 pet carry strats
Sevant of Demidos easily solos the two peacocks and bone serpent fight. I imagine switching a leveling pet in would be no big deal. Unfortunately making a fool-proof "guide" will be difficult as the enemy abilities change every time you engage them and I think they choose them at random (I seem to r...

Re: Red Cricket
I too was surprised on how quickly the Red Cricket "grind" went. Didn't use any addons or do anything special really. Glanced at the Wowhead map to see where I might focus my efforts but that was it. Took me less than 2 hours to get it. Great pet too... works as a nice support pet with Screech, aoe ...

Hardest trainers to two pet for Trunks?
I think many of us here have done An Awfully Big Adventure by now. What were your top 3 hardest trainers to figure out a strat for? For me, definitely: 3. Christoph VonFeasel 2. Taran Zhu 1. Blingtron 4000 For me there was no competition. The rest really didn't take more than 3 or 4 attempts, but th...

Ever been specifically countered?
Was starting my 10 pvp wins for the week today. Played a different team each time and was on a winning streak... got 4 in a row right off the bat. Feeling a loss was nearly certain, I switched to my lame cheapo win team: triple Iron Starlette. Clobbered the opponent in the first fight, only used 2 o...

Re: Advice for PvP newbie
I was a big pet battler since early MoP but didn't start PVP pet battling until a few months into this expansion. However I already have over 200 wins so I've learned a lot. Here's some things I have learned: 1. It takes awhile to learn how to create teams with synergy (reading discodoggy's blog is ...

Re: So how are you all powerleveling now?
I just do a few Pandaria trainers. In WoD I've been using a level 90 mage to powerlevel pets in Pandaria, and now that mage is level 97 (and has never step foot in Draenor!). If I use pet treats and a hat it only takes about 3 or 4 trainers before I can use the leveling stones to cover the last 3 le...

Re: ever find that one team...?
The true beauty of the MPD is that it can serve as both an opener AND a sweeper. 309 speed is faster than most pets, so the MPD can often drop a decoy, followed by Thunderbolt for 600ish aoe damage, and then move into the back line unharmed. Its when he comes out at the end, that the problem arises...

Re: ever find that one team...?
But I see 30 battles with MPD before I see 1 battle with Murkalot. To me that's what is frustrating. Given Murkalot's power, he is rightfully rare.

Re: ever find that one team...?
For instance: your team needs a solution for the Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling's Decoy ability, or you're not going to have a fun time. The Unborn Val'kyr is still pretty dominant as well, but since it's slow generally it just 'trades' with whatever you have it fight now. I don't think it's too mu...

Fun strat for Lil' Tommy Newcomer.
Use a Draenei Micro-Defender and anything with an Ion Cannon. Then pick a pet with less health than the micro-defender so that the Defender will be switched in. Step 1: Ion Cannon. Step 2: Reflective Shield. Step 3: Anything. Watch Lil' Oondasta basically kill himself in a couple of turns. Maybe a h...

What pets do you use?
There are well over 600 pets (although many are nearly identical) to choose from when pet battling. Some are much better for battling than others. In fact, there's a pretty accepted list of what the "best" pets are and even this website ranks them (not that there's anything wrong with that.) So I de...

Re: Is there a perfect Celestial Tournament guide?
If you're merely a pet collecting enthusiast who derives no satisfaction from battling, I can understand the desire for a 100% foolproof guide. Otherwise I don't understand what the point is of guides that spell out exactly what spells to use and when. What happiness is there from winning the tourna...
