5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
Several people have started working on guides of sorts, and it would be rude to usurp them before they really hit their stride. Not to mention the work involved - testing out everything in this guide took weeks and hundreds of bandages and resets. Testing the Celestial fights the same way would take a ton of work and (unlike this guide) it might take a few more weeks for "optimal" teams to be ironed out by all of the people testing it.Sound wrote:Hey Rendigar. Is there any way we can convince you to make a guide as beautiful as this for the Celestial Tournament? :>
/begs madly.
That's not to say I *can't* do it if the others decide not to bother formatting their information in a more readable way, but I'd definitely prefer they get the credit for their work. I don't even have my strats for the Celestials written down, I just have 9 teams built for the undercards and I just wing it. I have only had to reset once or twice since the 1st week - and the Celestials themselves are simple with the teams I've used (Burst, Explode, Gnome/Raptor, and Mr. Bigglesworth).

Love, love, LOVE this guide! Thank you so much for your hard work, this is the best pet guide I've seen. It has helped me so much I named my Yellow Moth after you. lol (That's supposed to be flattering and not creepy, I promise!)
One little thing though, under your strat for Brok you say to use abilities (1,2,1) on the Emperor Crab, but then say to use Renewing Mists, which would be (1,1,1). Of course it worked just fine with Healing Wave, but I thought you'd want to know.

Thanks (and it's a little creepy all the same ), I'll change the post to Healing Wave since it heals for more than Renewing Mists and does it all at once so is the better option (especially since Incinderous can crit for 600+).Piekid wrote:Love, love, LOVE this guide! Lovely guide, I have just an issues with your listing of the explode strategy.
I think Dos-Ryga, Ka’wi the Gorger, & Lucky Yi should be listed under good instead of poor because a team of the mid to high end options, for example a lantern, zeppelin, and bombling, work reliably against Dos-Ryga, & Lucky Yi if you restart them till they heal on the first move (I can't remember the last time it took more than 3 tries) and no extra attacks just cause sunlight > swap > explode > explode. They will not have a chance to get off another heal before death. I have never lost against these two using a team of this quality or higher. In the case of ka wi just flee if it roots your sunlight caster. I agree with no-no being listed as poor. That fight can go sour easily with this team.

Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
That snippet is exactly why I will not change anything as it does not meet the basic goals of the guide (in Part 1). You are correct, you can win if you keep restarting til you get the move you want. That does not meet the goal of doing the circuit quickly and with near 100% certainty.Sci wrote:... work reliably against Dos-Ryga, & Lucky Yi if you restart them till they heal on the first move...
There are many combinations that can work, these are just the ones that have been picked (by myself, granted) as the optimal team choices. The beauty of a guide is it gives people guidelines - it's not set in stone and you are always welcome to try different things.

Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
Thank you for this. I almost have enough leveled that i can change from the 2 pet anubishith emerald drake guide to this one.
Some useful additions would be a printable version as well as some tomtom style way point macros for the route.

You're welcome.Juggalowang wrote:Thank you for this. I almost have enough leveled that i can change from the 2 pet anubishith emerald drake guide to this one.
The individual locations are already included in the guide next to each of the fight headings. I could assemble in the last empty post a list of the actual Tom-Tom macros, but then what about people who don't use that and instead use "Insert your tracking mod of choice here"? I'd rather focus on the guide itself and not the umpteen mods other people use, to be honest. It may happen, if, say, someone volunteers to write it up in a post I can copy from, but it's not something I'll be doing, I don't think.I got bored and did it, quick and dirty like, check [url=http://www.warcraftpets.com/community/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7556&p=58082#p58082]HERE[/url]Juggalowang wrote:Some useful additions would be a printable version as well as some tomtom style way point macros for the route.
As for a printable version - the posts are laced heavily with BBC code, so you wouldn't want my source text file (which I have to keep updated already). If I make it into a single post I may run into the problems I had before where I was unable to update it (though that issue is, I think, nailed as needing to check "Do not automatically parse URLs" for medium-long posts). If I could upload a file (a PDF, perhaps) then I'd need to maintain THAT file, too. Yep, you guessed it, I'm lazy at least too lazy to do it again (my original version was a PDF with tables in it and all that, but I couldn't post it, so I rewrote the whole thing to work in the forums).
Sorry I don't have good answers to your comments, but I did want to let you know I heard you.

Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
If you get a chance try the [pet]Jade Owl[/pet] as your first pet in the flight team. Worked really well for me. Great update
Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
The Jade Owl, being a non-flying pet, is always slower than No-No. This is offset by it taking reduced damage from Aquatic attacks and a maximum of 35% of it's health from a single attack (so unlike the flyers it can survive 2, 3 or even 4 hits and thus get in more attacks). I think it's a great additional option - but because it doesn't match the "be faster than No-No" optimization (plus slicing wind being a 1-3 hits attack) that I wouldn't want to change the guide for it. But if you use it, I bet you'll win every time all the same (as long as you have backup flyers in the wings, as it were).Agentsardan wrote:If you get a chance try the [pet]Jade Owl[/pet] as your first pet in the flight team. You do, however, express something that can't be said often enough - there are MANY options out there, don't think that just because you don't have the exact pets in any specific guide that you cannot win. These are nothing more than guidelines that have been put together (and thoroughly tested), take them with a grain of salt and have fun (it's why we're here).
Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
Just wanted to say a big thank you for this guide, it's clear that the author has put a lot of time and effort into not only writing but trial and testing. Your guide along with some wowpetbattle.com guides have really made dailies and pet levelling a lot easier!
Thank you
Thank you

Thanks for all the work you have put into this awesome guide.
I wanted to point out one thing for Aki the Chosen, a Zandalari Toenibbler [4-P/P] (1,1,2) is exactly the same move set as the Zandalari Kneebiter and gives people another option for pets to use.

Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
True, but the Toenibbler lacks Hunting Party so cannot be used in the other fights in the guide, so you'll need a Kneebiter or Anklerender (in which case you can use it on Aki as well since there are many fights between the 1st and 2nd use of them). That's why I didn't include the Toeknibbler for the Aki fight, to save people from excess collecting. But if you don't use the raptor team for Lucky Yi or Ka'wi the Gorger then you'd only need the Toeknibbler for the Aki fight, so I'll have to add it in there. Thanks.Aur wrote:Thanks for all the work you have put into this awesome guide.

Re: 5.4 Guide to Master Tamer (levelling) + Beasts of Fable
Best comp I've found for Whispering Pandaren Spirit. Requires a CE pet, however.
13-15 rounds
1: Carry pet (needs 500+ health to survive Moth Dust)
2: [pet]Chrominius[/pet] [-] (2,1,2)
3: [pet]Lil' Deathwing[/pet] [-} (2,1,1)
vs Dusty
- Attack with Carry pet > switch to Chrominius.
- Arcane Explosion -> Howl -> Surge of Power. Dusty will die.
vs Whispertail
- If Chrominius survives long enough to cast again, Howl -> Arcane Explosion until Chrominius is dead.
- Switch to Lil' Deathwing. Tail Sweep until Whispertail is below half health then Elementium Bolt -> Call Darkness*. Whispertail goes down.
vs Pandaren Air Spirit
- Tail Sweep until he dies. Should only take one or two rounds as Elementium Bolt hits the round he swaps in.
* You don't want to cast Call Darkness while Lil' Deathwing has the Dragonkin damage buff as we want this for Pandaren Air Spirit's first round.

The guide is really very good, thanks for the work!
Couldnt work out what the composition of the Explode and Burst teams was for BoF, does anyone know?

Not sure where the confusion is, did you miss the post [url=http://www.warcraftpets.com/community/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7556#p57983]here[/url] or did you not understand it?Thetravellor wrote:Couldnt work out what the composition of the Explode and Burst teams was for BoF, does anyone know?
Short form of the compositions:
Burst 1 = Unborn Val'kyr OR Ghostly Skull + Pandaren Water Spirit + Chrominius
Burst 2 = Pandaren Water Spirit + Chrominius + Darkmoon Tonk (or any huge damage attacker, not usually needed)
Explode = Enchanted Lantern OR Festival Lantern OR Lunar Lantern OR (less optimally) Singing Sunflower OR Terrible Turnip
+ any 2 pets with Explode, with Blackfuse Bombling [6-H/H] being the highest health/best and any pet with only 1400 health being the worst. If you have 2 exploders with 1725+ health then you will never need to do a basic attack, just illuminate/sunlight, live swap, explode, death swap, explode.

Hi There,
The Major Payne strat:
Major Payne - Location: Icecrown (77, 19)
Team 1: 22 rounds
1: Corefire Imp [-] (2,1,1)
2: Carry pet (needs 500+ health)
3: Cogblade Raptor [5-S/S] (2,2,1)
Doesnt work at all, failed 3 out 3 tries - bear and mech stun

1st off, did you follow the note after the attack list?Thetravellor wrote:Doesnt work at all, failed 3 out 3 tries - bear and mech stun
The bear will either stun the imp (in which case you Cauterize after it, then swap carry pet in and out) or it will stun your carry pet when you swap it in (which is fine). I'll have to go out there and run with that comp again and see what the numbers look like. The bear stun is a guaranteed thing and the strat has always worked in spite of it. The mech stun is not, but I remember winning even with it happening (albeit a tighter victory). The bigger risk is a crit with wind up along with the stun. I'll try and do this today and get right back to you.Rendigar wrote:Note: If Corefire Imp is stunned before using Cauterize just pass and use it after recovering, then switch to carry pet

My bad, it appears that searching for the word "explode" failed, which is a problem with the sites search engine. Its quite obvious now that you showed me.
I expect if you asked my wife, she would agree that I am pretty much hopeless at finding obvious things. If she could she would put my wallet and car keys on a necklace im sure
