Hello everyone! In honor of the Chinese New Year, I will be hosting a pet battle tournament based on the animals in the Chinese Zodiac. Dress up and bring some fireworks for a big display after the tourney


When: Saturday January 25th, 7pm server time.
Where: the Serenity Peaks monk training ground arena
Who: Open to anyone in <Warcraftpets> and <Magical Menagerie> that is level 10+
Level 25 pets, no team switching between battles, Single elimination if over 16 people come, double elimination if it's fewer than that, the usuals.

The Pets

RAT - any rat
OX - black lamb, elwynn lamb, little black ram, Zao
TIGER - nightsaber cub, snow cub, darkshore cub, winterspring cub, spectral cub, cheetah cub, Xu-fu
RABBIT- any rabbit (not mechanical)
DRAGON - whelplings, dragonhawks, proto-whelp, soul of aspects, Yu-la
SNAKE - any snake
HORSE - winter reindeer, gazelle fawn, giraffe calf, infected fawn
GOAT - stunted shardhorn, clefthoof runt, summit kid
MONKEY - baby ape, bananas, darkmoon monkey
ROOSTER - any chicken, Chi-Chi
DOG -core hound pup, fjord worg pup, perky pug, worg pup, brew pup
PIG - Mr. Wiggles, golden pig, silver pig

Would anything in the Dragonkin family count as a dragon? Or only the ones listed?

Any dragonkin family should be fine as long as they're not the mech.

How bout cats? Because technically Cat was supposed to be there for the feast, but rat tricked him.

The Rat and the Cat
A long, long time ago, the Cat and the Rat were the best of friends. They accompanied each other everywhere they went and they shared their food. One day, the Cat learnt that the Jade Emperor was going to elect twelve animals to represent the twelve calendar years, and invited all animals to a party. The Cat suggested to the Rat that both of them should make a presence.

When the day finally arrived, the Cat told the Rat, 'I am going to take a nap so that I will be in my top form. Can you please wake me up when it's time to go to the party?' 'No problem.' the Rat replied, 'Just relax and rest. I will wake you up when the time comes.'

After the Cat fell asleep, the Rat thought to himself, 'I am among the smallest of all animals and I don't stand a chance in making one of the twelve if the Cat will go.' So when the time came, the Rat left on his own without waking up the Cat, and was elected as one of the twelve Zodiac Animals.

When the Cat found out what the Rat had done, he was furious. The two became worst enemies. This is the reason why cats are not one of the twelve animals and they love to chase after rats.

(completely in jest as not part of the current zodiac)

What an awesome idea for a tournament!

as far as the dragon family of pets, I was going for the ones that really look like dragons, so was trying to exclude Chrominius, death talon whelpguard, untamed hatchling, nether faerie dragon, and sprite darter hatchling. i am open to suggestions or comments though.

Lucky Quillen being modeled on the Chinese Fu dog would be allowed. Rocket Chicken being a mech would not. Same as mechanical Pandaren Dragonling not being allowed as it's a mech even though it technically is a dragon. Sprite Darter, Nether Fairie dragon also dragons but fey dragons not Chinese type models. In some cases exceptions had to be made in order to have pets in the category, such as Horse and Ox. For the most part the challenge is to create a team while doing your best to maintain the theme of Chinese New Year in spirit.

Be sure to check against the list for acceptable pets. If you think one should be included that is not, list it for consideration.

I am curious whether Bonkers is allowed as a monkey?

I was planning on using Thundering Serpent Hatchling and/or the Cloud Serpents from Pandaria. I'm assuming they're legal, as they're the same model as Yu-la, as well as the most Chinese-looking dragons in the game.

Is Spirit of Competition allowed? Assumed so since its from Chinese Olympics, but just to double check...
