Talked to a GM.

It will be about 7 days. That's one small change under the new system. Applying game time still makes it far faster than a subscription, but there is a small amount of time now between a reward being earned (i.e., you applied the time) and the pet/mount, and also their free month being granted/able to be claimed.

At this point his CC hasn't been billed yet, you can cancel the subscription on the account (when they ask for a reason just say I want to use game cards) then add gifted time cards. His CC will not be billed for the 2 months and you get the rewards in about 20 minutes. (I just did this last week, I assure you it works.

I bought time cards. No monthly subscription involved. That's why I asked a GM. I was told that it takes 7 days for the reward to show up for the referrer. It's all over the forums too, it seems like no one is getting their reward quickly with the new system.

There are an awful lot of people on my server with the new pets and mount (plus getting the achievements for the older mounts) for that to make any sort of sense. They must have changed something in the last day. /shrug

People had left over referrals from the old syste and when they logged on they were give the reward in game.
