Nice to have this world quest back so soon, so I could try again... Unfortunately Beaver Dam critters are all too slow and I don't have Mr. Bigglesworth to test his Block mechanism vs. Armageddon. So I did a carry with 2 striders, video of the fight is in the playlist I linked earlier.Aranesh wrote:Same here ^^ What was your attempt?
Available pet challenges in Legion so far
Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
Thanks, I'll check it out the next time this quest is around
Today I think I found my master. Master Tamer Flummox to be exact. That guy is unbeatable with the pets I have on beta and I'm not even sure I could find a reliable setup to beat him with all pets in the game. And that he's part of the Family Familiar achievement is a good joke I think ^^
Is there anyone around who got him down?

Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
I use a faster Trample pet for the straight 10% damage plus whatever the debuffs and elite passive let through and then Stampede before this pet goes down. We can buy the Lost Netherpup in Dalaran's shop on beta servers and the Tanaan rare for the Fel Pup was one of my few WoD goals when I realized that I can't continue with my horde garrison after the Tanaan Jungle Intro (again? feels like WoD Beta ) Video has been added to the playlist.Aranesh wrote:Thanks, I'll check it out the next time this quest is around

Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
Good thought, yes. I was aiming for a Life Exchange strat which helps to cut off about 40% off Flummox' health right at the start, but couldn't follow up with 2 pets that dealt enough damage. Thanks for sharing
Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
How gaining the pet experience looks like for Dalaran pets, tamer pets and quest pets? I was suggested that some teams aren't progressive but is there any visible pattern for that?
I have compiled community knowledge & data about pet battle abilities!

Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
From all I can see so far, there is a pattern indeed.
If an enemy team has 3 pets, you get full XP like in Pandaria or WoD tamer quests (about 3500-4000 for a lowbie pet).
If the enemy team has 2 or 1 pets, the XP is minimal (300-400).
But keep in mind I only had the chance to test maybe 20% of all new pet challenges so far. It might not be the case everywhere.

Hmm Wildlife Conservationist... I already have a Spring Strider, but I have no idea where I got it... The day this world quest was active I couldn't find one -.-
Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
There is at least one 2-pet fight "Help a Whelp" where my level 20 carry got 2900 XP, I think I'll check my videos tomorrow... most of them I did with a level pet and I think the XP gained is visible at the end of these videos.Aranesh wrote:If the enemy team has 2 or 1 pets, the XP is minimal (300-400).
Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
Ah, Help a Whelp yes. I accidentally finished the fight with a lvl 25 pet in the leveling slot :/
But thanks for confirming it does give XP!
So there are exceptions to this rule, however I haven't seen a single-pet enemy that gives XP so far. Perhaps Flummox? But I don't see this one doable with a level pet ^^

Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
Beasts of Burden, anyone?
Re: Available pet challenges in Legion so far
Baby Bjorn is fairly simple, just hit it with mechs and he'll drop really quickly.
The Mini Musken is the real challenge here. I have two ways of beating him:
1. Use Glowing Toxin since it bypasses the -50% damage shield of legendary pets. Just use 3 Mei Li Sparklers (or similar), keep Glowing Toxin active and use other spells in between. It's ugly because the Musken will heal himself up at least 3 times during the fight, but it works.
2. Better alternative is the use of a Clockwork Gnome - which I don't have on the beta. So this one is theoretical but according to math it should work out. For this one I would use a first pet to drop him to ~1100 health, then use Call Lightning the round he starts Wish - swap to clockwork gnome and spam Turrets / Metal Fist. Musken should be dead after 5 rounds.
I'm pretty sure there are other good ways to kill him, for example stacking Lightning with Stampede/Flock. Stormwing could be a perfect pet for this fight. Just some ideas

Thank you, Aranesh! I had no idea about the glowing toxin. I grabbed the 3 Mei Lis and had them take care of both Beasts. Thanks so much! <3
