So during MoP, I decided to spend some spirit of Harmony's on restored Tolvir artifacts. If you didn't realize, you can trade 3 SoH for 1 restored artifact...this nets you 5-9 fragments and a chance at a hieroglyph for speedier solves
The Claw pet requires RNG luck and often 200+ Tolvir solves for many..thus the 25k+ price on this pet.
I read that this pricey(SoH sell for 45-50 g each on my realm) 'shortcut' is disappear ing in 6.2- that the vendor is disappearing
-----------
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but the patch notes seem clear
I'm pretty sure you need to be level 600 archaeology to do the exchange for restored artifacts as well

For reference, the 6.2 PTR patch notes: "Spirit of Harmony Vendors no longer offer Restored Artifacts for sale."
It would seem that yes, Restored Artifacts will no longer be obtainable by spending Spirits of Harmony in 6.2. Might be wise to spend Spirits now then?
Restored Artifacts aren't going away completely though, and you can still acquire them by completing archaeology items. The vendor that sells Tolvir artifacts in exchange for Restored Artifacts in Warspear and Stormshield aren't going away. The only change is that it'll be more time-consuming to collect a bunch to turn in.

Yeah, I had no idea this existed. I have quite a few SoH I don't need anymore, thanks for the info!
Re: Crawling Claw warning-6.2 change?
What is the name of the vendor?
Re: Crawling Claw warning-6.2 change?
Bought my Crawling Claw for 8k gold I think, was a very nice price I thought. Stopped caring about archeology completely right after.
I wonder why they're changing this though, the claw - even with this avenue that I didn't even know about - isn't exactly common. And spirits of harmony aren't that commonplace anymore either.

If you're looking to get quick arch items, buy the mantid package thing from the arch vendor in the Vale. It has an item that will make all your dig sites in pandaland mantid sites. It also has a map, which rerolls your current sites. The fast part is that all the sites will be in townlong steppes along the coast and on the island or in dread wastes.
No where near as quick as buying spirits and doing that conversion, but you'll get some achievements along the way if you keep at it!
Good luck!

Thanks for the warning about the change to Spirits of Harmony trading for archaeology crates. I had saved mine luckily and had over 600 and even better I got the Claw today. Very grateful for the notice as I am usually the one that hears about things after the fact. Love Warcraftpets!

Re: Crawling Claw warning-6.2 change?
Just a heads up about the Spirits of Harmony - Restored Artifacts conversion from my experience... obviously if you have them and aren't using them, spend 'em! But if you're after the Crawling Claw like I was...
Enter happy, optimistic Chronos.
189 Mantid solves
280 Pandaren solves
377 Mogu solves
= 846 restored artifacts - 10 for Lorewalker's Maps
= 836 Crates of Tol'vir Archaeology Fragments
= 154 Tol'vir solves
= only 2 of 6 Tol'Vir rare artifacts
No pet. (There's another guy on wowhead with 782 Tol'Vir solves for his Claw)
Exit bitter, grumbling Chronos. This is one of the few things I literally decided farming the gold to just buy it would be both faster and more enjoyable. Farm old Cata raids for a few weeks and watch AH for 20-30k.
Anyway... trading 3 Spirits of Harmony for 1 Restored Artifact when 836 artifacts yielded no pet... may you have better fortune! (would be 2508 spirits - spirits are ~50g on my server=125,000g)
The spirits are still used to craft tailoring bags so, you might want to consider simply selling them and using the gold towards your Claw fund

Re: Crawling Claw warning-6.2 change?
Well, luckily I got super lucky on this one. I also rushed to the vendor to trade all my SoH for artifacts. I was totally shocked when I completed my current Tol'Vir artifact to see the claw as my next solve! So after trading enough artifacts to get half of the claw solved, I only needed like 2 dig sites to finish it. Took longer to get Tol'Vir dig sites than it did to actually solve that one. Like I said, super lucky on this one! Now, I just need to complete my Nest Guardian that is half done!

Glad that I wasn't affected, by it! But I strangely do enjoy doing the dig sites when I'm flying around aimlessly on the game at times. Every thing in the game has it's moments I guess!Drudatz wrote: Sorry after the ROYAL mess up to arch that Blizzard did with WoD

Re: Crawling Claw warning-6.2 change?
Wow - I didn't know about this. I was wondering why I had the achievements but I had no solves. When MoP launched they also had a bug - I completed the Tian Monastery quest line and my achievements for Archeology reset ie it said I got them with the new date. I did open a ticket at the time but got no help with it.Drudatz wrote:Sorry after the ROYAL mess up to arch that Blizzard did with WoDDakaf wrote:If you're looking to get quick arch items, buy the mantid package thing from the arch vendor in the Vale. Fortunately I had not done too much in Archeology - was level 315 or something like that. So its not such a big deal for me - but for guys that had everything almost complete :O ....
