Found him just hanging out in the middle of the island surrounded by the usual elite murlocs. Was able to Shadowmeld and engage him in a pet battle without having to clear out any of the surrounding mobs. The one I battled was Common quality. No idea if its random or not. He came with a crab and snail for back-up. Frosty was able to clear all 3 enemy pets so it was an easy capture. Clearly not meant to be much challenge.

If only "Pet battle area is obstructed" wasn't such a problem when you just find the safest spot for yourself… 8-)

Crossed fingers for classes with a humble CC & aggro drop kit. At least they fly away, though it may be a problem when DoTs are involved.

Got him today. Mine was B/B. Has anybody seen any other breeds yet, or is this the only one?

@Paladance: Yeah... that place can be pretty deadly! It's probably a good idea to bring some help so you don't have to worry about the elites :)

There was one pet near some shipwreck which you could safely battle, but there is a murloc patroling near it which you'll most likely add after your battle.

All records I know consist of the same 1441/268/292 model.

My hunter was trying to secure the folks but ended in more talking than helping. Mrglrglmrglmrrrlggg!

I managed to catch three, all B/B, two whites and a gray.

The elites were annoying so instead of repeatedly re-clearing I figure I'll just use a stone or three.

He was accompanied by snails, moths, or crabs. (Maybe a snake? I didn't pay much attention, it died too fast to the Molten Corgi).

I tried three, two Greys and a Green.

After capture, at level 23, both the Grey and the Green had stats consistent with the numbers in BattlePetBreedID
BPBID_Arrays.BasePetStats[1935] = {7.75, 7.75, 8.5}
So kudos to the author, and to Warla at petsear.ch, for finding that out in advance. It's possible that Blizzard allow for another breed, and if so I'm sure we'll hear sooner or later, but for now I'm going with a single B/B breed.

Same here, caught 3 and looked at a few more. All seem to be B/B breed. I ended up with a poor, common, and uncommon quality, used a stone on one. The rares are probably pretty darn rare, and if you're having an issue with the mobs there best to just do the one fight and take off.

As for clearing the elites, either bring a friend or do it this week when you have a chance of other random people coming to the island. My BM Hunter (ilvl ~895) didn't have any issue even pulling 3 at one point, but I know my mage would've had problems. Just pick your landing spot wisely and you should have less problems than with the elite kill X demons quest by ToS on Broken Shore since the murlocs spawn much slower.

Got mine!

Caught 3 and they all do appear to be B/B. Unless there's another breed that's very rare to catch, this may be a strictly single breed pet.

The elites on the island aren't bad if you're geared, but if you aren't, they're probably a huge pain. I pretty much cleared out the entire isle of mobs on my main because I really did want a rare, and other people were running in behind me to pet battle as I cleared the way.

For a toon with steath, this really easy. Simple generic battle, only thing to watch out for is doing the final kill when that Patrol is heading back down.

Got one, an Uncommon that I stoned to rare:)

Went in with my main my Hunter.
Landed near the Squirkys, Feign Death because of the elites who rushed at me so they would go away then Shadowmeld and Pet Battle.
Had to do it 3 times because I accidently killed the first two (grey). Changed my first battle pet to a lvl17 Hare instead of a lvl25 who hit to hard.

There are several battle pets which have attacks that can't kill:
[pet]Terrible Turnip[/pet], [pet]Molten Corgi[/pet], [pet]Corgi Pup[/pet], [pet]Grumpy[/pet], [pet]Corgnelius[/pet], [pet]Snobold Runt[/pet], [pet]Scraps[/pet]
The first two are elementals so not so good here but the others should be OK.

A wild report about the website content: [ability]Fish Slap[/ability] has a wrong icon. :)

I've seen [pet]Grizzly Squirrel[/pet]s aswell.
