Sad that 250 doesn't mean shit with the battle pets as they are sold for double that amount, easy. Very frustrated.

What? Quite a lot of the pets cost between 50 and 100 polished pet charms each. Only 6 cost over 200 pet charms. I've managed to buy several already.

Why frustrated? Do the pet WQ's every day and you'll easily be able to buy all the pets in time. It won't be instant but where's the fun in that?

Thanks for the list but is there any consensus on which are the best pets for PvE battles in each category (mechanical, beast etc)?

Just briefly looking it doesn't look like there are any pets that would overtake the best in family pets.

Hi,

250 might not be that bad, or out of line IF there are 2 battles daily that offer the Polished Pet Charms, which means you can get 2 blue stones, or pick up easily 30 or more of them.

So far, for me, and I have done probably 7 or 8 of the Pet Battle Trainers, they are all beat'able, which makes our ability to get these Charms a bit easier. It's not like a few of the other fights in other places, where it is difficult to finish the fight, and at least one of them depends on a Critical chance to finish the fight, and that's almost asking for too much.

Of my collection I only have, so far, 3 to bring to Rare, and these 3 are already the preferred breed, so I'm not too worried. The one person I would worry about is the one that has 100 pets to turn Rare, and also needs the ... something like 3K of the new charms to be able to get any new pets. That would not be a favorable example, or situation at all!

The Pet Battles, for all intents and purposes, seem to be setup for the experienced battler. I can not see someone starting new from scratch and being able to get to 850 or 900 pets efficiently enough to make the play-ability sustainable and fun. But you sure can see the top folks listed at Warcraft pets move along and the majority of them have 900+ pets.

Hi,

(...sorry ... just thought of it)

IF you have more than one character, try to get them to 120 as much as possible, at least for the WQ's. And only one of your characters has all the Charms with it, so you can keep track of things.

My example, was Legion when I had 11 characters (2 accounts) at 110 and that made it easy to pile up the Pet Charms ... I would have them all do the Murlocs in Azsuna, for example, and take the pets to 11 (with hat), and then do Ashli every day and that pet would be 15. And of course, take advantage of Squirt ... 11, 16, 19, 22 ... and you can use that Pet as a 3rd in almost everything to finish leveling it. (I use them as 3rd as low as 15/16 depending on abilities ... like it has a positive with the opponent and such).

Normally, in some fights, when I needed the Pet Charms, I would have all the characters do that fight, so, I could easily get the Pet Charms in one day.

just to note, remember that the new pet battles (at least the ones that dont have only one to beat) can be battled by lvl 1 pets as they will scale to the highest pet on the team.

For most of use who are "hardcore" pet battler that might only mean our new pets, but for the more chilled player it can be so much better. My other half is only now really getting into pet battles after i gifted him loads of spares, but he never really lvled them him self, so now we are doing the pet battles tougher and with his lvl 1's he has an eaiser time beating them (as they all only have lvl 1 attack unlocked aswell) then some of my full lvl 25 teams.

He is now getting enough charms to buy the new pets he wants aswell, so i think to say that new players cant get into pet battles is wrong, and might be one of the best times to start if they missed the last few exps.

Does anyone have a definitive number for the amount of Polished charms we'll need to collect at least one of all charm pets across both factions? I attempted to count them myself and came to 5550 charms, but I'm sure I made some mistakes somewhere along the line. Has anyone smarter than me managed to get a hard number?

With one toon it will take years to get that many charms. Looks like pet WQ usually don't reward charms and charm table missions are rare. Only thing to do is have lots of alts to do the one pet WQ that rewards charms every other day and wait for people to put pets up on the AH.

Once the general population realizes we will pay a ton for them they will start showing up on AH. Then all players will do the pet WQ instead of just the collectors, they don't even need all level 25 pets. Tell all your friends to start saving up those pet charms so collectors can buy pets from them. Then we will get our pets faster and not have years long grind ahead of us.
The more people doing this, the more pets will show up on AH and the faster the price will drop.

hehe its also worth reminding people that these WQ's give rep, so if you have a few ppl trying to catch up on rep theses a good for them too, i think ive managed to get about 10 guildies now in to pet battles just for the rep, with most of them say they will buy me a pet when they have enough charms

Thank you, I knew I was off. It helps a lot to have a goal in mind to work toward.

There is no fun in subgating. I personally prefer content that I can chew in the volume I decide. Not sitting back waiting for breadcrumbs every day for half a year until 5K charms have been gotten. Its just another gate in this expansion like everything else, to keep us subbed until a "content" patch arrives. I hate that design, only good things are breaks from WoW from time to time when you have done everything, then you get to play other videogames.

I got my first alt to 120 today and instantly had her out doing the pet WQ's. It's nice to see my pile of pet charms build up a bit faster! :D

Lolfixheal wrote:to keep us subbed until a "content" patch arrives.
I'm genuinely curious, if for example, you could get ALL the pets in the first month of an expac, what would you do? Would you actually unsub until the next patch with pets in it?

I only ask because I have been subbed for a continuous 12 years without a break. Pets are my favourite thing, ofc, but with everything else to do, I've never run out of stuff to an extent that I've felt like unsubbing. I don't need gated pets to keep me playing, I love this game. :D

if you dislike it that much don't do it otherwise of course it is set up that way. if you got all the pets in the first week what would you do? having a goal is fun for me I don't want it handed to me. if working for things in this game annoy you it might be time to play other games I hear candy crush is fun

Once your 120 there are also a few rares and treasure chests that drop Pet charms (I've found some from the Jani Chests/quests in Zandalar). There's also a good list to start with from the wowhead comments (Under Polished Pet Charm) 55 Pet charms give or take listed sans any world quests or War campaign missions (which is about 30 to 50 with bonus it seems)

Keep in mind that many (most?) of the pets purchasable with polished pet charms can be caged. So it may be a better use of your time to farm gold and buy them on the AH.
