random battle stones from battles?

Sometimes when I'm fighting lots of random wild pets to level or whatever, I receive a battle stone after maybe 10 battles. Is there more info on this? I feel like it's possible that it's only a Draenor thing, but I'd like to know the exact conditions for getting them. Haven't had it happen in a while since I discovered Squirt days for levelling!

There is no official information, but from reports we've been able to piece together, every pet battle win has a 1% chance to drop a random stone.
It DEFINITELY is not confined to Draenor. I've seen it all over the place, also in PvP.
