They also mentioned a pet for Recruit a Friend; maybe from there? seems likely!

Re: 5.4.1 woof-woof
I have a terrible habit of reading something and then forgetting where I read it. Anyways someone actually linked a Blizzard interview where they HINT that Barnard is a recruit a friend pet. So I'm going with that being the likeliest bet.
Re: 5.4.1 woof-woof
The original Mmo post lists "Pet Store" but I think it was adjusted.
Re: 5.4.1 woof-woof
My guess is this will be a reward from the next Recruit a Friend, I seen tags for mounts, pet and something else. I believe this time around if you recruit a friend you can get a choice of one of a possible three rewards with the pet as one of them.
It's really smart thinking on blizzard part to offer a RAF pet since there is about the same number of pet collectors to mount collectors. Hehe, now if you collect both, guess you will be needing to find two friends!

Bumping with info from the WoWDB PTR pages...
Bernard:
Avalanche (4t), Bark, Bite, Call The Pack (3t), The Good Stuff (4t), Tough n' Cuddly (4t)
Mostly beast attacks, whilst Avalanche is an elemental one that hits all enemy pets. I'm guessing it'll be something like this (2/15 & 4/20 may be reversed):
L1/10: Bark / Bite - basic no-CD attacks
L2/15: Call The Pack / Avalanche - heavy hitters
L4/20: The Good Stuff / Tough n' Cuddly - defensive abilities
Note that Call The Pack has a 3 turn CD, but I'm guessing is meant to continue for 3 rounds like most swarm abilities (could be like Spiderling Swarm I guess, though unlike that it doesn't deal bonus damage to webbed enemies).
Murkalot
Blessed Hammer, Falling Murloc, Lash, Reflective Shield (3t), Righteous Inspiration (5t), Shieldstorm (8t)
In brief, a mix of humanoid and magic abilities, including a magic attack (Blessed Hammer). Maybe something like:
L1/10: Blessed Hammer / Lash
L2/15: Falling Murloc / Reflective Shield
L4/20: Righteous Inspiration / Shieldstorm
Note also that Blessed Hammer's power in the WoWDB tooltip is 7, but the datamined tooltip says 21 - possibly it's designed to be split amongst all enemy pets?
Apologies for the lack of links, but this limit on external links for low-post-count people is... irritating . Suffice to say, the WoWDB PTR pages for both pets have plenty of details, although not the levels at which each ability is learned.

Murkalot have some really interesting abilities. And yes I agree Blessed Hammer is most likely a spammable aoe attack alike [ability]Omnislash[/ability]
But Righteous Inspiration is incredible with sheer potential!
Righteous Inspiration
5 Turn Cooldown
The user inspires a friendly pet to charge into battle. This ability always goes first.
The swapped-in pet has double speed and damage for 1 round. If all their friends are dead, the user can still inspire themself.

Video with Murkalot animations. Its pure gold!

Re: 5.4.1 woof-woof
I'm disappointed that they didn't go with a version of Fist of the Heavens! But Blessed Hammer and Falling Crusader were other abilities I thought they'd probably go with.
Love the animations.

MMOC just posted a Murkalot video. Seems to have improved animations from the first one:

Re: 5.4.1 woof-woof
I'm guessing Recruit A Friend. Right now it's all mounts, and with the new option to pick what reward you get, I figure Blizzard would throw in a pet just to have it appeal to more people. Far from everyone cares about mounts, so offering another reward seems like a good idea.
Or at least I hope so. As a druid with a Zulian tiger, I couldn't care less about more mounts.

Anyway, all my friends either already play WoW or have no interest/time. So I guess if I want this pet I will have to create another account for 2 months (assuming it follows the rules the mounts did.)

Re: 5.4.1 woof-woof
The source of the pet in PTR Pet Journal may only be a placeholder, but we'll see. It could easily still end up as the new RAF pet developers were hinting at.
There's only about 3 weeks until Blizzcon, so hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the finalized version of this patch.

Re: 5.4.1 woof-woof
They said its a very small patch (it is), so I can't see it not being live before Blizzcon.
Or maybe I just really want my murloc knight ASAP!
