Day of the Carp
Today is the day I shall prove myself worthy enough to become the companion of the elusive carp.
I have gained the trust of the Kalu'ak and have been given their finest fishing pole.
I have proven myself a worthy enough angler to wear Nat Pagel's hat.
I have tracked down the elusive spirit fisherman and gained his charm.
I have built the finest raft in all of Pandaria, and brewed the finest lager.
Today is the day I will gain the trust of the carp.
(yea, I've going a little nutty from fishing)

Re: Day of the Carp
Good luck! My only advice is not to read any wowhead comments on the carps before you begin, because there's always someone going "lol ive nver fishd b4 and tehn i couhgt this 1rst cast!"

Re: Day of the Carp
*tips fishing hat to you* Don't let the waters make you go too loopy!

Re: Day of the Carp
I have gained the companionship of the tiny red carp. Soon I shall brave the ocean waters in search of the elusive white carp. . .after a hearty meal of noodles and some drink.
(been fishing for two days, thank goodness for audio books, otherwise I'd probably go completely around the bend.)

Re: Day of the Carp
May the RNG gods smile upon you. I made that decision one day and after two days I finally got a red carp. I then got the others in the AH. Since then I've fished up a blue one and a white one. It always seems easier to get one one when you're not trying because it's BONUS when you get one.
Re: Day of the Carp
Wow, you've got the Nat Pagle hat but didn't see carps in all that time? That's a bit demoralising, I guess, for anyone thinking of trying to camp them.
Personally I didn't spend a lot of time carp fishing. The blue one practically fell into my bag when I did a couple of casts into the lake outside Shrine while waiting for a lfd queue. Bought all the others because I figured I'd used up all my luck. Like walking into a casino and winning big straight away - wouldn't be a good idea to stick around after that.
All the best of luck to you though mate, I hope the RNG gods smile on you.

Re: Day of the Carp
I now have the green, red and blue carp.
Plan on fishing for the white, but that will have to wait until the weekend when I have the time (hopefully).
Good things about all the fishing, I've made some good gold on the other fish I caught and I listened to two John Scalzi books narrated by Wil Wheaton. "Redshirts" and "The Android's Dream". Both very good, and Wheaton's narration is top notch.
Good plus sides to the insane amount of fishing done.

Re: Day of the Carp
I have the kalu'ak fishing pole enhanced with a line from the STV fishing contest, the fishing hat (which I use to cast a lure on the pole), fishing boots, and gloves with fishing enchant. Alas my RNG luck is terrible so I've only caught the white carp so far. I'm currently trying to catch the red carp. The sha-touched waters in KunLai were the hot spot yesterday and I fished for hours but still no luck.
I haven't even caught the turtle yet and I have been fishing for a very very very long time out of schools.
Can anyone confirm that having higher skill level actually boosts chances of catching the carp?

Re: Day of the Carp
Higher fishing skill decreases the chance of "junk fish", in this case golden carp. The less junk fish you get, the more valuable fish you catch. It's the valuable fish that have a chance of being a tiny carp. Golden carp can be considered a valuable cast by the RNG gods, so you want to catch as few as possible, so higher fishing skill is very good in this regard.
I think El can explain it better than I can.

Try the lake near the pet tamer in Townlong Steppes for the red carp. Spent ages in Kun Lai with no luck. Tried Townlong and had the carp in less than an hour.
May the RNG god's bless your casts.

Ahh. Ok. Thank you very much for explaining that. I'm also using my Ancient Pandaran Fishing charm thingy. I wish there were fishing luck potions.
