I'm pretty lazy about leveling things like archaeology and fishing since it is so boring, but a pet as a reward is a nice incentive. I leveled fishing fast while working on the pet to buy from Margoss.
I leveled my Warrior from 100 - 101 and fishing skill 1 to ~700 just from the fishing raids in Dalaran. Killing that NPC actually gives some decent XP even in a raid group.
