Hey gang,
What's the deal with Pinchy? Does he just hate me, or what? I'm really good at catching him, but he won't drop the pet. I've fished up my 7th Pinchy so far and out of the 20 wishes that I've done so far, the very first wish was a pet and the following 19 have had zero pets. Is that normal, or am I just very unlucky?

I think I've gotten "Pinchy's Gift" and Pinchy's Blessing" about 8 times each. I don't need to be taller!!!! And I don't need Outlands potions!!!! Come on Pinchy, cough up the goods!!!

That's an incredible story - sorry to hear about your luck. The RNG is not your friend! My experiences with Mr. Pinchy have been different. I fished him up a couple of months ago and I got my Magical Crawdad on the 2nd wish. Recently I was leveling up an alt (because you can fish pools at any skill level)...I was surprised to get him on about the 200th cast. Got my second Magical Crawdad on the 1st wish. You might be better off "fishing" the AH...

I haven't heard of any changes to the droprate of Mr. Pinchy. Bad RNG is my guess.

On a related note though, if you still haven't collected Mr. Pinchy by WoD, there will be a rarespawn that [url=http://wod.wowhead.com/npc=84435#comments:id=1977301]might drop Mr. Pinchy[/url]. I'm not sure if this has been confirmed or not, so I would keep on trying for now.

Thanks for the replies. I have a Crawdad already, and I sold that one I got off that first wish. But then I decided to help my son get a Crawdad because he doesn't have one yet, and he's the one that got me started collecting pets. So I started fishing up Pinchys in an effort to get him a Crawdad. I don't want to just buy one off the AH since it's not for me. So hopefully Pinchy will appreciate my efforts and release the little "mini me" for my kid!

Is it possible that you can only get him one once per toon?

I'm normally skeptical about these hidden drop modifiers, but I think you might actually be onto something here. I've had 2 or 3 over the years, and now you mention it, each of those was on a different toon, shortly after they started fishing in the area. I've since been back with my main on a few occasions, trying to farm one to sell, and have had zero luck for several hours.

Probably just as likely it's just the RNG, but it might be something to bear in mind.

Huh, well that's something I hadn't considered. I'm up to 10 Pinchys now, so that makes 30 wishes, and only 1 pet has dropped, off of the very first wish. So I'm 0-29 since then.

If I had another toon that actually had fishing, I'd give that a try.

They don't need fishing. You can catch from a pool with only 1 point in fishing. They just need to be able to fly up there and survive.

Well no, you're fine if you're doing it on alts. You'd only be wasting time if you did them on the same toon, like I was doing. It's once-per-TOON, not once-per-account. So alts can still get them.

Yea, but doing the daily on multiple alts for months afterwards isn't productive. Earned a few fishing points for some of them I guess.
