With the opening of the Normal and Heroic Emerald Nightmare raid this pet is now available.

[pet]Dream Whelpling[/pet] is indeed wild and only spawns after you've defeated Xavius. There are a few up, and they respawn after a short period.

It's unclear if they also spawn in LFR.

Can you check, if the whelplings spawn after a soft reset of the raid-ID ?

Apparently [url=https://twitter.com/Fizzl_CTR/status/778641599437926400]they do not respawn after soft reset[/url]. So if you plan on sharing the lockout, you need to make sure someone stays inside the raid after it's been cleared.

So a friend of mine cleared EN last night and asked if I wanted to use his lockout to get the pet this morning... I said yes of course! The whelplings were still in the raid (although I'm not sure if anyone actually tried to catch them last night), but I found that I got the 'failed to create pet battle' error every time I tried to battle one. However my friend was able to enter battle with them fine. I'm wondering if that actually means we have to kill the final boss ourselves to get the pet... :`(

This is rather disheartening news. I finished my full clear a little while ago and actually came here to make a post stating I was going to start accepting BattleTag requests to get as many people their pets as I could this week

I left my raid an hour and a half ago but I just ran back in and it appears there have been respawns. Anyone online and interested in seeing if they are able to capture them I will be on probably another hour. Send me a Battle Tag request and I'll get you in (Kelly#12973).

A guildie and I just tested it. Seems like the spawns were still up and can be battled by other players that were not there for the final boss kill.

I did leave the raid with all spawns up (they respawned while I was inside and clearing them out on the first night). So it's still possible that if there are zero spawns inside when everyone leaves and it soft resets, they won't respawn.

Anyway, good to know that these whelps can still be shared!

Edit: I'll be listing my cleared Normal Emerald Nightmare raid in the custom LFG finder on Thursday/Friday nights for the next few weeks. Alliance-US, just search for "Dream Whelpling".

Yeah, I have it listed in the finder under custom right now for anyone interested. Search "Dream Whelpling Pet" Thought about it after the fact and figured it was easier than all of the BattleTag business lol Everyone thus far has been very considerate in only grabbing one and leaving the rest for other people. They seem to be on operating a 5 minute respawn rate or so.

De-listing for now so I can get some sleep. I will zone back in tomorrow afternoon/evening and re-open it in the finder as long as the pets have continued to respawn. I'd say at least 40 people have captured one in the past two hours. Got to meet lots of nice collectors

Round 2! If you have a 110 Horde character on a U.S./Brazilian/Mexican server look up "Dream Whelpling" in the group finder under Premade Groups/Custom and come grab a [pet]Dream Whelpling[/pet]!

I added you back but it looks like I just missed you. It's in the finder right now and will be for awhile while I get my house clean.

The group will probably be listed for about another hour for anyone still interested.

... really stupid question. Will joining one of these groups save me to your raid lock? I'm locked to 3/7 but our raid week isn't over yet...
