Just a friendly reminder to all of my fellow pet collectors - as of November 22 we will have two weeks to pick up and complete the quest Out of the Frying Pan from Dariness the Learned in Dalaran. It's a small chain consisting of three quests with the reward being [pet]Wyrmy Tunkins[/pet]!

Speed of completing seems to widely vary.

It took my paladin almost two hours to do it at 450-ish skill. Had to rely on the demon attacker spawns to get the last two quest items to complete.

Two guildmates finished it in under 45 minutes at over 700 skill. Could be random luck, could be skill related, who knows.

Note : Nothern Watcher isle dig site is a real pain.... avoid if you can

I completed the quest chain only twice yet, but it seems that the drop chance of the quest item is related to your archaeology skill. Took me 4 dig-sites at 800 skill, but over a dozen on an alt that started with 250.

Done. That was a distinct bit of no-fun, but I got the pet.

Lucky you..

I went through 17 dig sites.. Got my first drop from a mob spawned when digging at 3rd site.. The next at 5th site from at dig..
From then, roughly one part per 3 sites..

I'm at 800 skill...

just on a side note i never saw Crawling claw up to today.... and i think i am close to thousand Tol'vir solved.....if it is not more
still trying .... i refuse to buy it just for the sake of it (i could thousand time tho)....

Even 17 dig sites is better than the crown quest prior to the hotfix. I was arching for 10 hours (over 2 days) before I finally found the 6th piece of that one.

Just finished, went from 1 to 74 archeology skill before I was done. Wasn't too bad.

0-75 is smooth sailing, as you get points for digging..

After 75 you only get points per solve..

Not in Legion content. You should still get skill-ups for digging at 700, just tried it a couple of minutes ago. I don't really recall in every detail, how I maxed out archaeology on my main during the 2nd week of the expac, but I'm pretty sure I got skill-ups until 800. However there might have been changes since.

After getting 5x [pet]Wyrmy Tunkins[/pet] pets, I've to admit that the difference in skill level seems to be negligible, mostly because you end up killing a couple of demon spawns that usually drop 1-2 quest items anyway.

Just got my 10 parts after a total of 12 digsites. I didn't count but I would say about half came from drops and the other half from the little wyrmy guys who pop up from the nodes. Went from 41 to 193 archaeology skill, completing artifacts only when full on shards.

I skipped north Watcher Isle as recommended, but to be honest I would recommend skipping south Watcher Isle too. It takes ages to get there, and although you don't have actually have to kill any mobs they come in large packs that along with the patrol can really spoil your fun if you accidentally agro them.

Thanks for the info. I would have missed this otherwise. If you are not a lucky person, expect about 1-0 per site. I got one about every two dig sites. Took me from 700 to 795 for this one pet. Watcher isle is a pita, both north and south as the murlocs kept deaggroing/evade bugging mid fight leading to endless murlocs. I can still hear their screams. Mrrrggggllll.

I wish they did more pets like this.

I'm pretty lazy about leveling things like archaeology and fishing since it is so boring, but a pet as a reward is a nice incentive. I leveled fishing fast while working on the pet to buy from Margoss.
