Have drop rates decreased from previous raiding with leashes? I have done Firelands on 5 toons and not one pet has dropped. Just really bad RNG?

There's always bad luck.

Each successive one, people suspect they've lowered the drop rates. By now, no one would ever get them!

I just completed my first set of Cata raids on one character.

Result:

Ten more? Lucky you. I have to force myself to do them 19 more times.

It certainly does feel like the rates might be a little lower, I've done a full clear of the whole set on an alt without a single pet dropping so far

Weird. I also got the Cinderweb Crawler and Blazehound last night. I think the drop rate is about the same TBH. I still farm Black Temple for Xmog each week and I haven't gotten many pets from it.....UNLESS they lowered the drop rates for ALL the raids, not just the new Cata ones.

Did all of the raids except the one with Spine of Death wing, and got 4 pets.

Status so far after a few runs (got 12 chars to get through the Argus intro questline, so not an awful lot of time left over):

Averaging half-a-pet per raid.

Doesn't look too different to my experience with RWL:IV. Still got a handful of chars to run them on, just not today

3 complete runs:

14 pets in total of which 10 different ones.

I have knocked out 3 of the 5 raids so far. The most characters I have had to take into a raid so far to get all the pets in it has been 8.

Did 2nd run on my DK, and got 5 pets plus a duplicate cinder web. I've been running these in 10 man Heroic with good results and drop rates.

I went BoT, BD, TOTFW, FL, DS for most characters but stopped sending to a raid once I had all pets.

Pyreclaw was last and took 16 kills.

Dragon Soul was a pain as I got the corrupted blood quickly but lockouts are messing up in there so I couldn't jump past and had to do complete runs for the Unstable Tendril.

I think drops are about the same as always as it took me 13-14 to get the last pet for the Attunement Edition.

Full run on one toon yielded 2 pets for me.

Is there any report so far of some pets only dropping in Heroic or Normal mode (as the Icecrown pets in the previous achiev)?

I don't have them all yet but nothing I've seen seems to suggest that. Each boss only has one, unlike Arthas. I have gotten at least one from Cho'Gall, Madness and Al'Akir which seem the most likely to be on heroic if any are.

To clarify all my kills have been normal.

The boss drops seem to be rarer in frequency overall on all modes but not restricted to any particular one. I did a full range of heroic, normal 10 and 25 and got pets on all.

I've also had bad RnG on this raiding with leashes and the prices on my server are indicating lower drop rate overall because the prices are very high and not many duplicate pets are listed, so prices are not being forced down yet. As a result, it is expensive to buy them instead of taking part in the drawn out grind.

I'm kind of over this expansion altogether tbh. There hasn't been much fun in pet collecting this time around and the expac has felt like Blizzard is dragging everything out just to keep subs. The joy of this game is just disappearing for me.

That's most likely not accurate. People just get frustrated ever time because they want them all right now, leading to the claim that they most surely must be lower drop rates THIS TIME. Since we're on the 5th iteration it's pretty safe to say they've settled into a drop rate they like, and the empirical evidence would support that. Success/failure appears to be about the same as last time. Nothing contradicts that other than people's individual experiences differing from previous attempts (and also, memories of those previous achievements getting hazy over time). That's not enough to contradict that it's likely the same or very similar.

Prices are always high the first week or two. Even more so in Legion, as it has infused more gold into the economy than any other expansion.
