Small tip for extra PPCs

When you see the WQ for
Poacher Zane up in Stormsong Vally, go kill him immediately..
While the WQ usually don't yield PPC (I only ever seen that once), he always does drop 10 PPC from normal loot.
It's not a huge deal, but with a need for over 5.500 PPC, every little bit helps. Especially, when you can do it on all your alts.

Always or just the first time? There are a few rares that have charms on their loot table, but most BFA rares revert to a generic loot table once you have killed them the first time on a character (once they no longer have the silver dragon on their portrait and do not appear as a star on your mini map), even when their WQ comes up.

Only first time. No WQ required, as long as it's your first kill he'll drop them.
Same goes with Cottontail Matron as well as a number of chests.

The pirates in Freeport drop maps. These maps lead to chests throughout Tirasgarde Sound. You have a chance of getting PPC in these chests.
However, since I have five, almost six, alts at 120 now. I just complete the PPC world quests multiple times and gather up the charms I need.

Every time the WQ is up. Gotten it 3 or 4 times now. Don't know if WQ isn't up.

Really? I need to test this more carefully then. I usually skip it unless I want the reward since I always go kill him while leveling.

Freeport ... wasn't that EQ?

That's exactly what I was going to post ... I am working on a 4th now, and it should help even more. However, I already had all my pets top'd off when BoA came out, and that made it easier, since I did not have to chase down 100 other pets (so to speak!) and I could use the new PPC more efficiently. I finished with all the pets in BoA (other than purchases and all Expeditions), and now it's just get a few more PPC's and get the rest of the pets needed.

Every time I've killed Poacher Zane on a character that's already killed him prior to his WQ popping up, I have not received additional Polished Pet Charms. The only time I got charms from him was from the first time I killed him on a character.
Buggy? Who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for testing this! I thought I was crazy, missing out on easy charms by skipping his WQ at times.

Looks like a v8,1 stealth nerf, as I positively know I got PPCs on each kill when WQ was up before..
But I can indeed confirm that you don't get it anymore

I’m pretty sure I had killed him prior to 8.1 with the WQ up on a character that had already killed him and received no charms as expected. Hence my initial skepticism.
Maybe he sometimes did it, but given the general behavior of rares and loot, I would say that would be a bug.
