So this Twitch thing

I'm an old guy. Never had any use for Twitch. But since they are giving a pet away, I guess I'll get roped into it just like I did with Heroes of the Storm. Played long enough to get the pet and never played it since.

How does this work? I want to know what the minimum I have to do because I have no intention of ever going back there once this is done.

1. Go to https://www.twitch.tv and make an account if you don't already have one.

2. Go to https://account.battle.net/connections and find the section for Twitch. Select "+Connect" and follow the instructions to connect your Bnet account to your Twitch account.

3. Make sure you're logged into your Twitch account and start watching WoW streams during the following time periods.

  • Twitch Drop #1 (Dragon Kite): Starting November 15th, 3:00 p.m. PST to November 18th, find a WoW stream on Twitch and watch/play it in the background for a total of 4 hours. Doesn't have to be all in one sitting. You could split it up into four sessions of 1hr each or whatever works best for you. After at least 4 hours of watch time, you should be eligible to claim the Drop reward. (you can check your Drops status here: https://www.twitch.tv/drops/inventory)
  • Twitch Drop #2 (the fel mount): Same as above, just different dates, November 28th, 3:00 p.m. PST to December 1st.
  • Ichabod (new pet): Between November 28 at 3:00 p.m. PST until December 12th, if you gift an eligible WoW Twitch streamer 2 Twitch Subscriptions you'll be able to claim this new pet.
  • Twitch Drop #3 (the toy): Watch at least 2 hours of specific WoW Twitch streams (Blizzard has yet to announce which streams are eligible). December 13th, 3:00 p.m. PST to December 28th.

How to "gift a sub"? (see below + image example)
1. Go to the WoW streamer's Twitch channel when they're online. Find the "Subscribe" button under their live stream.
2. Select "Gift a Sub" and follow the directions to gift (buy) the streamer 2 Twitch subscriptions. (each one costs $4.99 USD)

How do I know if a Twitch Streamer is eligible/part of the Drops giveaways?
That question is tougher to answer as Blizzard hasn't given much detail on this. Normally if a Twitch channel is offering Drops, they'll usually have something like, "Drops enabled!" in their stream title. Keep an eye out for WoW channels like that. The more popular channels (you can sort by number of viewers, high to low by using the "Sort By" drop down menu on the upper right side of the WoW channels page) will very likely have Drops enabled.

For the Dragon Kite, mount and Ichabod, it was implied that all WoW Twitch Streams would be eligible to giveaway these Drops. For the toy, there will likely be specific streams you have to watch.

All of this is subject to change, however. So just keep your eyes peeled for any updates.

Update: Blizzard has released a list of eligible Twitch Streamers for the Ichabod promotion.

Find one of the streamers listed, make sure they're live Nov. 28 through Dec. 12 and streaming WoW, gift them x2 Twitch Subscriptions, earn the new Ichabod pet.

I hope that was clear and concise enough ^^;

Thank you Quint. You are wonderful and greatly appreciated. And probably underpaid.

So if I already have the Dragon Kite, I guess there's no reason to get ready before Thanksgiving. I thought all this stuff was dropping next week.

Thank you again x100

Quintessence. thanks for the instruction!

But was anyone able to get the drop this way?
It seems that I can't get it - I did everything, and Twitch says that I can now get the Dragon Kite, buy when I press "Get Now" in https://www.twitch.tv/drops/inventory - it only says about an error, "not possible to get drop".

Could it be because I already have one Dragon Kite? Can someone please confirm it is not a unique item and that the Twitch drop does work?

I think it should say "Claim" when you're eligible to get the reward, but someone correct me if I'm wrong?

I already owned a Dragon Kite prior to the Drops, and was able to collect a second one.

Probably, yes - I do not know how it is in English there :)

Thanks - I already got it, too! There was some glitch - I have to disconnect and re-connect Twitch to Battle.Net.
However, the second pet is indeed different from the first one...

Checked that my WoW account and Twitch accounts were linked (they were) and found a Kiwi streamer on at 7am, put the stream on a second monitor with the sound off and ignored it. When her stream ended 3.5 hours later my Twitch profile said I was 90% towards the pet. Found another streamer (Preach - though he'd quit WoW :D ), and did the same. Halfway through a new Uldaman run, I got a message on Twitch that I had a prize to claim, bottom right under the chat pane - you can't really miss it. Clicked on it and few minutes later got a message in game that I had a new present - the Dragon Kite pet. Actually easier than I thought it would be.

I just got the Dragon Kite battle pet from the Twitch stream. Strangely, it can not be caged. Guess they don't want you to flood the AH with these. The TCG version of the pet still gives the option to cage it. Bloodhoof's AH only lists 1 for sale for 297,000 gold right now.

I don't understand the point of this. I logged into Twitch and found a channel TomCat and left my pc. Came back 4-5 hours later and qualified for the pet.

Without checking each individual on that (very long) list of streamers, does anyone know if any of them do pet/achievement content? I'd like to support someone who streams about the content I like the most.

Mehetabel, you will probably know DragonsAfterDark. You have probably used some of her strategies from Xy-Fu's.

She has a post containing stream times here:

Reminder that the promotion for Ichabod doesn't actually start until 3pm PST (GMT+8) on November 28.

If a streamer is live and streaming WoW before that time and you gift x2 Twitch Subscriptions to them, it will NOT count toward the pet. Only Twitch Subs gifted during the actual promotion period count, so I'd wait a little bit after the start time before spending any money.

So I'm curious (cause I may have done something wrong) but looking at the instructions it says to "purchase a cumulative of two (2) subscriptions of any tier to earn the reward." Does it have to be a gifted sub, or can it be me subscribing to a high tier to 2 different streamers?

Everything that I've read says it needs to be 2 gifted subscriptions. Prime doesn't count, and I'm not sure if you can gift yourself or if it has to go to someone else.

So good news, it doesn't all have to be gift subs. Bad news is the streamer has to actively be streaming WoW for it to count. I subbed to one channel while they were streaming, subbed to another while they weren't, then went back to the second and gifted a sub while they were streaming and the pet popped immediately

So I am totally confused, I gifted 2 subs, but it went to 2 random people...
Do we have to gift the Streamer, I put his name (on a 2nd attempt) and it says I can't gift that person ???

UPDATE: IT TOOK A COUPLE HOURS AND SHOWED UP IN MY TWITCH NOTIFICATIONS
