What is the known knowledge about how the ToT pets drop? I have run LFR and Normal raid (12/12 as of 2 weeks ago) since it was released but I have yet to see any of the pets drop. I assume the LFR ones are just a random chance single roll against the system like it is for any loot. Anyways, the questions I have are:

Is there a separate roll for the pets in LFR? (ie can you get loot and a pet and legendary quest runestones)
Are the pets in normal mode found as regular loot on the body or are they single rolls per person like the legendary quest items.
Can you use the mogu charms for another chance at pets?
Can the pets be found in the LFR bags?
Is there a higher chance of a pet in 25 man or heroic?
Can you have a chance for it in both LFR and normal/heroic in the same week? (any order preference?)

I apologize if this was in a previous post (I looked quickly but didn't see anything), so if it a link to that post would be fine.

AMENDED: You can get pet, loot, and legendary quest item all from the same boss.

They're regular loot on the body. They're also on trash (it's how I got my Living Sandling).

Yes

Can the pets be found in the LFR bags?

My understanding is that the LFR bags and the Thunder King bags from the raid weekly can both contain the raid pets.

Is there a higher chance of a pet in 25 man or heroic?

AMENDED: The pet drop is an additional drop over the normal loot; there's not enough info to know if the drop rates are different in 25 or heroic, but I suspect they're the same.

Can you have a chance for it in both LFR and normal/heroic in the same week? (any order preference?)

Yes, because it's a lootable item in normal/heroic.

The pet is on the loot table. If you get the pet, you won't get item loot.

I've heard the opposite. There have been a few reports of players receiving a piece of gear and the pet from a single LFR boss (no roll used).

I've heard rumors that if you do a boss and it doesn't drop, you're locked out from possibly receiving the pet from that same boss in the other version of the raid.

I haven't found much info on this and I can't confirm it for myself, but it's an unsettling idea, true or not.

If anyone has firsthand experience with seeing the same boss to drop a pet in both LFR and normal mode in the same week (on the same toon), would love to squish the rumor.

You may be correct, I found the following comment on Wowhead:

"In normal and heroic, it drops from the Sand Elementals which is the trash leading up to Council of Elders. The drop chance seems to be about 3 - 5%.

In the LFR it drops directly from Council of Elders. It will be personal loot, meaning that it will go straight to your inventory if it drops. It is also treated as extra loot, so you can get a piece of gear (or a failbag) and this pet at the same time."

I don't have any confirmation of that, but it appears correct. I'll amend my original response.

I'm guessing that for boss drops in Normal/Heroic it would be an extra drop, not replacing another piece of loot, so the drop chance is likely the same regardless of 10 vs 25. I'll amend that as well.

I don't see that as likely, as the pet is treated like a static loot drop in normal/heroic. Typically the item has to be dynamic at all levels (i.e. it goes directly into your bag) for it to have a one chance per boss configuration.

Sigil of Wisdom/Sigil of Power go directly into your bag in LFR but you have to loot them from the dead body of a boss in normal.

Right, but the Sigils could be gained in both normal and LFR from the same boss. It was only ToT that started the one per boss per week restriction.

I can confirm you get both loot and a pet if you get lucky and win the "roll". on dark animus this week i got his mechanical and tier on my alt. of course i already had it but a free 10k never hurt anyone.

When you say you got the ji-kun from a coin, do you mean that you did not have it from the regular drop, but did get it when you used your bonus roll?

Are you certain you didn't have the hatchling in your inventory before you used the coin?

I'd be happy to buy that "spare" Son of Animus off you... I'm on 6 kills, with 6 also bonus rolls, and no pet. I'm getting sad.

for my jin kun hatchling i popd a coin and received the pet and "gold" for the coin roll. i also recieved a fail bag with gold before i used the coin. The pet defiantly came after i used the coin.



** since original post i have coined loot + pet on primo this week too. fail bag before i used my coin as well. defiantly no ooze before then.
