Its the FAQ. It says:

Q: Can we only play 3v3 on the Arena Pass realm?
A: You are free to play any Arena format, but only your matches played in the 3v3 bracket will be counted towards the Arena Pass rewards.


Does this apply to the pet too?

Im also interested to play it. Have a resto druid with decent gear, not super skilled tho.

Ohh yeah. pve gear ilev516, warlock, but I dont pvp really. only want to do it for the pet. happy to get beaten senseless if it means I end up with pet.

I would be interested in the pet, but have no clue about what is needed to get it as I detest PvP with a passion and have never done any arenas. The few times I have done BGs, my role has always been that of cannon fodder. Does the team have to win to get the pet? If it does, that would probably make it a waste of time for me to even try.

You don't have to win. You just need to compete in 50 battles as a team. 3v3 would prob be the fastest way to get through it.
I think you register your team on battlenet, they copy your chars across to a special server for the contest, and then when all members of the team are present, you can queue to compete.

I definitely want to get murkimus US Madoran btag on the side, let me know if you want to make a team! I don't pvp so I'll server a 5 sec delay in the enemy going after you (I always get attacked first)

A little offtopic, but does anyone know when the arena pass 2013 registration is open for the EU Servers?

Some highlights:

It's $20 in North America and €15/£12 in Europe.

It's separate from the live realms, you can't transfer a character to or from the arena pass realms. You are able to create a level 90 character and gear it out with any gear they make available to you, including gems, enchants, and glyphs.

Only 3v3 counts for all rewards (including the pet).

You need to participate in (not win) 50 rated matches to get the Armored Murloc for your live account.

Just a warning. Make sure to do more than 50 matches during the qualifying round (which is about a month after arena pass starts). I had a friend who did 50 even and for some reason some of his fights were not counted. I don't know why some weren't flagged. My team did 65-70 fights last year to make sure to pad our total matches. After the Arena pass season was awarded, I got this Lil dude in the mail.

I'm in a 3v3 team already but I've never done the tournament stuff before. Rather looking forward to it (and ofc I desperately want Murkimus too!).

EU registration seems to be up too.

Also interested in making a team and just suffer through enough matches to earn the pet, though I'll need to take my medication beforehand due to my severe PvP allergies.

EU server here, so if someone wants to team up I'm all for that.
