Blizzard Armory Change

From Here: http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/266096-website-cleanup-incoming/
Like any good webmasters, we look at World of Warcraft site stats on a regular basis, and we're always evaluating which aspects of the site people find most useful. Over time, we've identified a few areas that players don't really seem to visit but that still require a bit of effort for us to keep updated each time we release a new content update. For most of these, it's pretty obvious why they don't draw a lot of attention-they tend to focus on things that are simply more compelling to look at inside the game, are a "given," or are already well-served and readily available elsewhere, like on fansites.
Early next week we'll be doing some cleanup and removing the following rarely visited, higher-maintenance sections from the World of Warcraft website:
Game Guide
Pets & Mounts Gallery
Factions
Professions
Guild Profiles
Perks and Rewards sections
Character Profiles
Pets & Mounts
Hunter Pets
Professions
Reputation
Rarely visited?! There goes wowprogress score and back to manual updates here ... and how will I play pet fairy anymore with random people by dropping pets in the mail they don't have?! That was my favorite thing to do!

The removal of the pet/mounts section in the WoW Armory shouldn't affect how WarcraftPets updates collections.
To clarify, this cleanup process shouldn't affect the API fansites and other people use to pull game data.

I understand why Blizzard feels they need to clean up their website and keep things neat and tidy, but the pets/mounts portion of character profiles has come in REALLY handy for clarifying collection questions. Kind of sad that it will be gone.

About the only sections I ever even visit on the armory are the Pets and Mounts or the Achievements sections... and when I look at the achievements section, I tend to only look at the pet battle achievements.

Is this serious????
Honestly I am always looking at some of those things to see what I need to do on what char. I can't tell you how bummed this makes me.
I too give away alot of extra pets and always check armory first since I've gotten so many people who already have the pet asking for one I am giving a way free. I even saw a couple on the ah, so now I check the armory before giving it to them.

I don't understand why they're getting rid of so much. I mean, getting rid of...
Character Profiles
Pets & Mounts
Hunter Pets
Professions
Reputation
...makes no sense at all. Why bother having character profiles at all if you can't see anything on them?

Clearly warcraftpets and like fansites should make a message to Blizzard to not go ahead with pruning this.

I've stated a few points on the official thread in hopes to help change Blizzard's mind on this. Crossing my fingers that the WoW community will provide enough feedback so that Blizzard will reconsider removing the armory profile sections.
If you have any constructive criticism, please let Blizzard know on the official thread.
We love WarcraftPets and the ability to track our collections here, but I think we've all utilized the armory profile pets/mounts section enough to say that it's still an invaluable tool and would be a great inconvenience if it were suddenly gone.

And some people just don't use WarcraftPets (how dare they!), so the Armory is really the only way to browse those friends' collections to get them a present or help them figure out what to do to work on their collection.
I don't see how they could possibly have thought this was a good idea.
Taking most anything off the Armory profiles honestly seems like a bad idea. In some ways it would be nice if they showed more information, instead of less.

This is quite possibly the worst news I've seen in a good long while.
I, personally, and a lot of other people I know, use the armory constantly.
I'm always using it as a quick check to see what pets/mounts I still need (and where they come from). Warcraftpets is awesome but it only works if people make an account and MANUALLY upload their pets.
It's an awesome way of checking friends pet lists for comparrison or giving presents (use it loads for that)
I'm in a raid guild and we CONSTANTLY use the armory to check not only gear but players rep, achievements and professions (as it's a great way of seeing how serious a player they are).

Im from the EU too and as much as like Brainis Site since Vanilla the removal of the Armory stuff is just another slap in the face of players so pls give'em hell on the us forum and try absolutly everything to NOT remove that stuff - hell remove any other wow site but leave the armory untouched...

Thanks for the EU link! Can't believe they're doing this to us...

I thought that Warcraftpets did updates for our pet numbers from the armory. Does this mean that we will have to enter each pet, their level and rarity (etc) manually from now on? If so, it will become unweildy.

No, you won't have to manually input each pet. If they remove the pets/mounts section from armory profiles, WarcraftPets will still be able to import your collection from the Blizzard API.
With over 500 pets available, it would be unreasonable for us to expect players to update each one manually!

Well, they said they were making the change early this week... and its still up after Wednesday, so I'm cautiously optimistic that we may have at least convinced them to give it a second look. The official thread is basically almost entirely people asking them not to take out the character profile pages. O.O

That as close! What a silly idea to take so much out!
