Alternative to "Unbeatable Pterodactyl..."

Any reason you couldn't just do the quest chain on another toon and get the other Mini-Jouster?

Its a Cataclysm quest, it was made before account wide pets. So yeah, you can elegantly skip the dailies that way.

You can get both colors either by doing the original quest and then the dailies on one toon or by doing the original quest on two toons. I ended up with multiples of both colors because I had done it both ways before MoP hit.

Problem with that is, the birds are uncommon, not rare, so multiples mean you have extra flyers to upgrade. They are also bind on account, so you can't cage and sell the extras. My multiples are the LAST things I'll be upgrading, though I do have the first of each upgraded.

I released all my duplicate jousters once MoP hit (kept 1 of each color). Some folks like having duplicates, some don't.

If it has its own listing on my in-game pet panel, it is unique. Heck, there are a dozen different Frogs with identical move-sets. Are you insinuating I don't need a level 25 rare one of each? What sort of madness is that?

Given how many "unique" pets are identical (frogs, moths etc)... why would having duplicates of ones that are truly unique feel like cheating? Especially since we ARE allowed up to 3 of each? (Disclaimer: I can see how someone having kept all 3 Mr. Bigglesworths could be considered to be cheating as players who got him after he was made unique would not be able to get 3.)
