Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
There probably isn´t enough total kills to be totally accurate. But so far it seems that the pets that dro pfrom actual rare spawns are about 5% drop rate. This includes Ale, Spirit of Jade(in cave), Crab, Leaf, Snake, Frog and Garnia(red lake) ( I am terrible with names).
The jademist dancer seems to be a .8% drop ( 1 in 125)
the Ominous flame which drops from the elemental mobs inside the cave is .4% ( 1 in 250 mobs)
The crane chick that comes from the nests seems to be a 2% drop rate.

Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
Ok, so my luck with drop rates is holding steady then. 260 nests so far, no crane pet. lol
Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
yeah, I had normal RNG with the nests... but I have killed about 500 dancers with nothing along with the ones in the cave.
Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
Could be worse, think of the pets different breeds, but thats not actually a problem ... oh wait

Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
There are hints, and some things datamined that indicate your first kill of the day gives a higher chance to get the drops. Again, total anecdotal evidence. This morning I logged in and was inside the cave. The rare was up, I killed it and got the pet drop. I then cleared the 10 normal mobs in the dungeon and got no drops.. then went to the beach and got the dancer drop on my first kill.Shmoooey wrote:I have been farming the dancers for days now. It would make sense.. if I were a developer, and I knew the intent of the island.. I would rather have players running around killing multiple things rather than sitting at one place killing the same mob all day. You can still farm stuff, but you are better off using alts and moving around. The downside to this theory is the devs would have to tell us, because in the past, just farming worked better.

Almost positive that this is just a red herring. Drop is the same on first or successive kills.Azrile wrote: There are hints, and some things datamined that indicate your first kill of the day gives a higher chance to get the drops.
But he was referring to the Jademist Dancer, which does not come from a rare spawn, but the elites out on the beach by the pirate ship.

The dancers share the same ´spell´ that is saved after you kill one. The first kill gives a different loot table than any kill after that.Gilneas wrote:Almost positive that this is just a red herring. Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
I can't provide any real evidence to support this but it does seem like this is the case. Not just with pets but loot drops in general. My first kill of Garnia got me a token to upgrade an armor to 535. Two days later my first kill of the day got me the pet. I've also seen several other cases where the first kill of the day seems to drop a ton of stuff and then it is much lower after that.
Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
There is no tracking quest for any of the non-rare elites, including the Jademist dancers. Only the rares. Ans said tracking quest is almost assuredly to deal with the timeless coins and not some arbitrary method to prevent people from farming for whatever pet they're looking for.Azrile wrote:The dancers share the same ´spell´ that is saved after you kill one. The point is, don't be dissuaded from continuing to farm for a pet if at first you do not succeed.
Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
Ruby Droplet is driving me insane at this point.
One character parked there killing him (at least 50 times), plus 2 other characters that have killed him maybe 15 times between them. My wife has even killed him a few times hoping to get the pet to give me out of pity (and to stop my endless cussing under my breath).

Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
The first kill of the day tracking is interesting to look into. I camped Garnia yesterday and killed her 4 times. First kill got me a token+ ~300 coins, second kill ~250 coins, after that I got ~80 coins. I wonder if the pet is considered in the same category as a token though.

Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
I am not sure the first kill of the day as far as getting drops. I have gotten 3 crane chicks in probably under 300 nests. I was able to buy some of the uncommon pets cheaply from someone on the isle. Aside from the chicks I have yet to get a pet from Garnia et al.
Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
So far it looks like all of the 5.4 pets will be pretty available. Droplet of Y'Shaarj looked like it could be the new Viscous Horror due to dropping in SoO but not lfr, but there's already multiple available on Illidan and elsewhere, for much cheaper than Horror. Kovok and Blackfuse Bombling are incredibly rare atm, but that's not surprising since their wings of LFR haven't opened yet -- there's no reason to think they'll end up being rarer than Gooey Sha-ling, which is making its way down below 20k on Illidan already. The various Timeless Isle pets are working out a bit like Lil Bling -- it's unlikely to get one to drop for you, but enough people are getting tags on these mobs that the pets are finding their way to AHs, with most trending down below 15k and dropping.
The only troublesome pet looks like it might be Dandelion Frolicker, which is probably due to the silly nature of the event that spawns the Scary Sprite that drops it. Maybe they'll fix how that event works, but otherwise I bet this ends up being the thorn in our side for this patch. Well, aside from Moon Moon: with Darkmoon Fair CRZ'd, that's going to be a nightmare unless the drop rate/spawn rate is buffed compared to Darkmoon Rabbit.

Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
There are no hints. It is a fact. For every rare spawn on the island is a daily flag that says whether or not you have killed it for that day. This is in place so that you can only receive a Timeless item or Burden on Eternity for the first kill of that rare a day. Every kill after will not drop those items. But I believe miscellaneous items are unaffected by this completely.Azrile wrote:There are hints, and some things datamined that indicate your first kill of the day gives a higher chance to get the drops. Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
I think Ruby may actually go up in price over the coming weeks, or at least hold steady. It is a pain to get to, and most people are done ´exploring´the island. But yeah, with flex raiding dropping every pet, and LFR coming soon for the back wings... everything is going to drop quickly in price. There aren´t any ´normal or heroic´ pets as far as I know everything is also included in flex, which is going to be pretty faceroll in a few weeks. My group cleared the first 4 bosses in under an hour without really much coordination... add another 20 ilvls to our gear, and these things are going to be very fast and easily puggable. I don´t think any pet, with the exception of maybe Ruby, will hold above 7k on illidain in two months.Poofah wrote:So far it looks like all of the 5.4 pets will be pretty available. Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
It is definitely tracked. But I think pets are included. I have had 12 pets drop from rare spawns.. 11 coming on the first kill of the day. There is a non-zero chance of it dropping on subsequent kills, but it is very low.Undeadreaper wrote:There are no hints. It is a fact. Re: Wowhead statistics for new pet drop rates
At that point, just pick it up from the AH. Or check any nests you happen to come by, but focus on the other pets. I've poked maybe 30-40 nests and gotten four birds, with the surplus ending up in the AH. At least here, the price has dropped to almost nothing.Worgenbait wrote:Ok, so my luck with drop rates is holding steady then. 260 nests so far, no crane pet. lol
To be fair, it wouldn't be the first hidden daily/weekly on the island. We already know that chests are a once per week thing, despite there being no quest for them. The loot scheme for the rares is also unlike any other mobs in the game (i.e. individual). The closest comparison is LFR, where bosses do have a different loot table for the first kill during a week.Gilneas wrote:Almost positive that this is just a red herring.
