Anyone hear of any info on how [pet]Moon Moon[/pet] is obtained?

Is it like the DM Rabbit, kill a rare boss and random 1 out of the raid will win it? I am praying it is not... though from the little I have found on the subject people are guessing it is going to be just like the rabbit.

Also if you haven't heard Moon Moon actually has a pretty neat back story before coming to WOW. Hannabev already linked it from the comments section of the [pet]Moon Moon[/pet] page. Pretty funny stuff if you haven't seen it. So if you see someone saying "Dammit Moon Moon..." you'll know the story!!

According to responses to this same question on the official forums, on the PTR Moonfang was a Timeless Isle-style rare spawn. I.e., approximately 60 minute respawn, no tagging, everyone gets personal loot.

That should make Moon Moon a fairly cheap pet to aquire.

As much as I'm sick of camping rares, the shared tag is the best thing ever. I just hope Moonfang has a limited spawning zone because unless she's packing some serious HP, the poor thing is going to be mauled and it's never fun to run like crazy only to find a dead mob.

Moonfang is summoned by killing Moonfang Snarlers. When enough have been killed, Moonfang Dreadhowls will spawn, and after slaughtering enough, Moonfang will appear to tackle your raid.

Not exactly, as any spirte killed have a chance to respawn as a scary sprite.

Never got to do it while it was current in TBC, but some neat stuff is available from it.

Confirming that Moonfang isn't faction-tagged and all can loot her. Just killed her 10 mins ago, no pet of course. :)

Also, roughly 45 mins later after killing Moonfang, the small wolves started spawning again, so the spawn timer for her is probably in the same ballpark than the spawn timer of most elites in Timeless Isle.

Haha yes, I just noticed the typo and edited few secs before your post. :D For some reason, I tend to miss the bloddy 'n' when typing her name... >_<

Ok, one thing worth noting: after we killed her the second time, I got no loot whatsoever. This made me think you can loot her only once per day. But luckily, it seems I'm wrong as my guildie got a drop from the 2nd kill too.

Apparently, you can get the quest item only once per day/week, but the vanity items on every kill. Or this I hope.

just was killing her/him with others (not in a group) as a lv 81 but got nothing. no loot, nothing

I looted her twice so far.

Quest item and shroud on first kill

Transform item on second kill.

Just killed her on EU. Got the pelt (quest item, 10 prize tickets) and some Moonfang mount thing. Says "Requires Darkmoon Faire" and it doesn't go into the mount list when used, so will have to wait and see if it disappears next Sunday.

Something should happen if you take Moon Moon to Shrine of Two Moons.

Hopefully the drop chance isn't too awful. I have a team in mind for it but it demands a P/P breed one.

Was unable to loot Moonfang on third and fourth kill, so it sounds exactly like the timeless isle bosses you only can loot a limited amount of times per day before they give no loot.


A guildie recieved a Moon Moon, the lvl 1 stats was 152hp, 10 attack and 13 speed. Clearly breed 5. S/S.


Edit: I speculate daily kills might reset at daily reset in 30 mins for EU.

Edit 2: Seeing some Moon Moon's pop up on Undermine Journal, so far they appear to be S/S as well.

You are unable to loot him cause you got all other items and they are unique.If it was pet,you should be able to loot him again.I got loot on my 3rd kill.Still no pet,sadly.
