Do caged pets that are traded lose levels?

I have several cage-able 25s that I'd like to loan to a friend to get his collection going. Will they lose levels when he returns them or as part of my lending them to him?

I don't believe they lose levels, but to learn them the person you're trading them to has to have atleast leveled a pet to level 25 other wise they will not be able to be learned. I hope this helps, if i missed anything feel free to correct me.

Caging pets never makes them lose levels. The only thing that makes a pet lose levels is upgrading them... and then, only if they are higher than level 15 (fun fact, when I have used a stone on a pet that was exactly level 15, it did not lose any levels).

I will confirm that you cannot learn a caged pet unless you already have a pet that is that level or higher in your collection. I have seen a lot of posts by people who mistakenly caged their only level 25 pet... and were then unable to learn it again until they leveled another pet to 25.

You can still help them out by providing the pets for the following strategy. Haven't tried it but makes perfect sense and a [pet]Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling[/pet] is perfect as it takes less dmg from the eye and deals extra dmg. It's also a pretty dang handy pet in general.
