I've done it in five rounds if my carry has Feign Death or some other move that will automatically swap it with my Val'kyr, but I imagine you're looking for something that works with any carry.

There has been a reset in EU so I can't check this anymore, but I can imagine a DMD playing a big part, if you can decrypt that acronym.

Actually, that was my first attempt to do it in 5 rounds (a pet w/ Explode like Draenei Micro Defender) ... didn't work =(
Hint on my soln: the first ability I used ... UA

Iron Starlette + any carry
1. Toxic smoke
2-3. Wind-up
4. Explode
Or one more toxic smoke between wind-ups, cant remember if it is necessary.

I feel like you may be missing the point of a carry. It doesn't get xp if it doesn't participate (or at least sit there vulnerable for a round). If it doesn't get xp it's just an underleveled backup pet. Q8e192 based the five-round strategy on being one less than the strategy I suggested in another thread:

1) Carry pet: any ability or pass
2) Swap to Unborn Val'kyr
3) Haunt, bring in Zandalari Kneebiter
4) Black Claw
5) Hunting Party
6) Hunting Party continues, Mini Musken goes down.

Good job Levapetrovich. I think this strat works most of the time depending on the breed of Iron Starlette. The Unholy Ascension strat I think works 100% of the time. @Dementron, if the last attack is a suicide like Explode (and a few others), it will allow a pet (in this case, the carry) to come in without a penalty swap round. And yes, you do get XP from it. I used to level up my carry all the time with the last attack as Explode on Vesharr

Actually, this is slightly incorrect. A carry pet will get EXP if it is the active pet at the end of a round (There is a distinction here). If a pet dies and you select a carry pet to replace it, that alone is sufficient to receive EXP. You can immediately swap it out so it is never vulnerable to direct single target attacks.

Your carry pet can even get EXP by simply being the only pet alive at the end of a fight. There are various strategies out there where you kill off your first 25 and then use the 2nd 25 to explode kill the last enemy giving your carry pet EXP gains.

What you cannot do is start out with a carry pet and immediately swap on the first round as it is never active at the end of a round that way.

I've done some power leveling using three Starlettes with P/P, H/P and H/H breeds.
Actually more than 1000 battles during last pet bonus week.

Team setup:
1. Iron Starlette (any breed is ok I believe)
2. Any 25 lvl pet (or 2nd carry if you'd like to level 2 pets simultaneously)
3. Carry pet

The exact sequence is
1. Toxic Smoke
2. Wind-up
3. Toxic Smoke
4. Wind-up
5. Explode

If Musken crits your Starlette will die right before explosion. Hopefully it explodes after revive provided by the race ability.
In case of H/H breed Musken will survive explosion with little hp. Before the next round it dies from poison anyhow.

The worst case when your Starlette does 2 crits in a row. This way Musken may die before your explosion.
It happens only for P/P breed and 1-2% from my experience.

So I recommend using H/P or H/S breeds for 100% stability.

Some numbers here:
Assuming you use hat (+10%), both pet treats (+75%) and critter week is active (+200%), it takes 4 battles to level a fresh carry to lvl24 and just 16exp to lvl25 left.
It means 5th fight will give your carry only 16 exp.
In one hand I find this fact a bit annoying.
In the other hand it's very convenient method for leveling pets for trade as some players prefer 24 lvl pets because of the achievement.
That way it takes 9 fights to level 2 pets from 1 to 25.

In my opinion, Squirt is much much much more profitable in terms of power leveling.

Actually you do not have to use or explode your second lvl25 pet.
It is enough to explode your first lvl25.
In case your fighter pet and enemy team dies simultaneously, your other pets will receive all experience. Even if they stayed back line all the fight.
Your carry will take all exp as lvl25 pet can't gain exp anymore.

Thats why solo Starlette strategy works with Andur.

Yep, my comments apply to two carry pets. I was just talking in general and listing a couple example strategies.
