Gnomeregan last boss change?

I had no trouble with Gnomeregan the first however many times I ran it, but today I simply couldn't get past the last boss (Pulverizer Bot MK 6001). All strats I can find rely on Lightning Shield but it seems that now if your pets aren't faster than the Bot you get destroyed. I even tried Dazzling Dance to speed up my team but to no avail. Does anyone have a strat for this that works currently? Many thanks.

P.S. I'd think Xu-Fu would have alternatives by now or Wowhead but maybe no one is running Gnomeregan any more!

I was a slow starter on this one and have limited down-time in real life so only recently started running this weekly and have been using the wowhead guide ( https://ptr.wowhead.com/guides/pet-batt ... gnomeregan ) which has been working, although I have not yet run the dungeon this week if you are thinking it could be a very, very recent change.

I have lost through either bad RNG or missing a step somehow, but otherwise it has been fine. I have also successfully slipped alternate lightening shield pets in after a loss but did not jot down the details sorry. Will be going again tonight or tomorrow and will report back then.

Thanks! Let me know what your experience is. From what I read it sounds like the lightning shield strat will work as long as the pets are faster than the Bot boss. My alternate lightning shield pets were all too slow, it seems. But like I said, I've completed Gnomeregan multiple times with no real snags until this week.

Othros, what exact team and strat are you using that is failing?

I haven't done it since I finished getting the pets, but I can pop in and test and record. Have you tried every strat on Xu-Fu? My problem will be that once I commit to the shields, there's no way to flee; I will kill the boss and can't try again, so I'd like to make sure I am testing exactly the case(s) you mean, with the same breeds. I see my current team is Ikky and two Tinytrons.

To be honest, I thought they should and would change that, since it was too hilarious with the shields.

First time I did it, I hadn't looked anything up, so it is - or at least was - do-able without the shields.

The team I've used in the past (that failed today for the first time) is Tolai Hare H/S (2 2 2), Stormstruck Beaver B/B (1 2 1), and Spiketail Beaver H/B (1 2 1). Hare stampede, beaver gets swapped in, lightning shield. Only the hare is faster than the Pulverizer Bot now (I don't remember if the Bot was slower in the past or not). Since I was able to do it previously with a B/B beaver, my suspicion is that the speed of the boss has changed.

As an aside, I do agree that this was a humorously simple fight with the lightning shield up. It's just that all the strats I could find as alternatives today rely on that same ability (lightning shield). I tried all the alternatives on Xu-Fu that I had the pets for, as well as using Dazzling Dance to speed up my lightning shield pets but eventually I ran out of pets that seemed sensible alternatives (Electrified Razortooth B/B, Spawn of G'nathus P/B, Thundertail Flapper B/B, Tinytron H/H).

I'm here now, reporting live

I don't have your breeds, and didn't take the time to get them, but I do have
Grasslands Cottontail 325 speed
Stormstruck Beaver P/P 260 speed
Spiketail Beaver H/P 244 speed

I note that Spiketail Beaver H/B is 257 speed while B/B is 260. That's a very narrow difference. Boss is 294 speed. I don't see that a boss speed change would have affected the differnce between 257 and 260. I also don't see an Epic quality pet having a speed that low in the first place. So I doubt the idea that the boss speed has changed.

Anyway, the beaver is definitely slower.

Here's the log from the battle. You will see that, while the beaver takes the Coolant Flush before putting up the shield, the shield is up before Jackhammer, so the battle proceeds normally. I should mot have used Discharge when I did, but the boss killed himself on cue.

Maybe you could look at your log to compare? I got this one using Pet Battle Log Keeper addon. I then extracted the lines from the LUA file, but if you want to post yours instead of just comparing them, you could maybe put up a screenshot if you're not comfoptable messing around with innards.

Thank you for testing! That's very interesting. I don't have the battle log add-on (didn't realize that there was one) but that's good to know.

Maybe I had some bad rng, or made some error that derailed the fight. I will do it again next week after reset and see what happens.

I ran into the same problem. Went back to Xu-Fu's and read the text. It called for a Highlands Mouse, but it had to be S/S or S/B.

Basically your critter needs to be higher than 294 speed

I ran this last night and it ran as it has done the last 4 or so weeks. It did take two goes on the boss, but that was human error and not any changes (very obvious human error in selecting incorrect moves). The strategy from wowhead worked nicely so might just be the breed side of things you need to check out.

Just throwing out my apparently odd team for this last boss fight.
Felbat pup S/B with fel immolate and black claw... starts the fight with black claw and immediately the boss swaps it out for my second pet.
Enchanted Torch P/B with heat up and immolation. Heat up combined with black claw and the boss pretty much destroys himself. Second move immolation just to add to the destruction, and I think I get one Burn off before the torch is done.
The torch goes down and I bring the bat back out to reapply black claw, followed with fel immolate and then it gets killed.
Third and final pet in the fight... Tinytron H/H! He comes in, lightning shield and the boss finishes destroying himself.
Tiny ends up with about 600HP left. It's worked every time including this week.

I once forgot to slot Plushie into slot3 (high hp) and was like "did they change it, wtf is going on?", then I realized my PICNIC error. As long as Jackhammer remains a quad-attack, you can cheese it with thorns-based strategies, that is the core essence why the fight is so easy. And it doesnt seem they have stealth nerfed it if you confirm the 4 lines of entry in the pet damage log.
