I haven't seen this anywhere yet, and thought it would be really helpful for those trying to pick teams and decide which pets to level. One thing to note on the damage done - some pets have attacks from different families (ex. Elemental pet doing a Beast attack) and the damage modifiers apply to the family of the spell, not the pet casting it.

There are probably 2 mistakes in Aur's list:
  • Critter takes less damage from Elemental, not Humanoid.
  • Elemental takes more damage from Aquatic, not Magic.
Another way to represent the data is with two cycles. The first one is "who does more damage to whom", and the second one is "who does less damage to whom". Both are full cycles of the 10 families.

Who does more (+50%) damage to whom:
e.g. instead of doing 100 damage, a Humanoid hitting a Dragonkin will do 150 damage.

Who does less (-33%) damage to whom:

Since the flowchart has no key, we can assume that the red arrows are bonus damage, and the blue sometimes-perforated lines are resisted damage, yes?

Yup you're right.

Just to make things perfectly clear, an example:

Flying abilities are dealing more damage to Aquatic type pets. (Red line coming from Flying side to top/bottom Aquatic)
Flying abilities are dealing less damage to Magic type pets. (Blue line coming from Flying side to top/bottom Magic)

Flying type pets are taking more damage from Magic abilities. (Red line on Flying top/bottom coming from Magic side)
Flying type pets are taking less damage from Beast abilities. (Blue line on Flying top/bottom coming from Beast side)

It's hard to make it less confusing :/

Something that is a little foggy to me is whether it's the family of the pet or the family of the ability (or both) that is used to determine the damage modifiers of an attack. (i.e. a flying pet is attacking an aquatic pet. normally this would mean that the attack would do +50% damage, but if the flying pet uses an undead ability, then what is the modifier for that? +50% because it's still a flying pet doing the damage? -33% because it's an undead ability that's being used? +17% because it's a flying pet using an undead ability? :? :?

I know it's modified by the attack type, so using that example a flying pet using an undead attack mode would be doing a weak attack; I've noticed this in particular because I use a fair number of mechanicals with beast attack modes, and they're always "strong" against critters, with their mechanical modes being "strong" against beasts. I haven't figured out yet if it's also modified by the pet family, but I suspect that, if it is, it's multiplicative not additive. So that using that example again, an undead attack by a flying creature against an aquatic opponent would be -16.5%

OK, from what I can tell, the modifier (at least as currently implemented) is for the attack type vs. the target pet family; the attacking pet's family doesn't seem to influence it. So a magic pet using an undead attack against an aquatic pet is a "weak" attack, a magic pet using a flying attack vs. an aquatic pet is a "strong" attack, and a magic pet using a magic/dragonkin/mechanical/etc. attack against an aquatic pet is unmodified.
This can be very useful and surprising -- for example, a humanoid that mostly uses mechanical attacks will be strong vs. beasts instead of weak. Of course, they'd be weak (attacking) vs. elementals, but so it goes...
My best guess is that it'll stay this way for release, but one never knows.

One pet that I found was able to use 4 different families and this is huge advantage imo in pet battle.

Fast examples:

Each of them have 3 abilities each from different school. I saw one pet having 4, but I can't find it now. Still it's beta so everything can change ;)
