How many pets did it take for the scenario?

Post by Chasmyr9922 » September 10th, 2013, 8:34 pm

Hello all to my fellow pet collectors :)

I just got done with the Celestial tournament Scenario. I have about 160 to 170 pets in my stable that are max level. It took me about 136 give or take to get through the entire scenario. It makes me think that I am not doing something right  . However I got it done.

The trainers that I could see took me about 12 to 18 pets with losing to get the right ones down. The four celestials on the other hand took me lots more. I finally used a combination of speed, damage per attack buff , and stampede type attacks to take down two of them quickly. The dragon was a pain but I finally managed to gank him with a stunted yeti. I do have better ideas on what I shall need for next week.

So as I said 136 total for me :). Is there a medal for the most lol?

well, it means you didn´t cheat and actually learned as you went.

I am lazy, I did the research first. Also, I am not doing that until later in the week, so I will see more good teams posted although I think I am fine.

So much to do on that island when you have 9 alts at 90 who are in 430 gear.. my main is going crazy getting drops for them.

I didn't actually count, but I lost a lot.

The tamer teams I did in a try or two.
Sully - Wood frog, Yeti, Crow
Dr. Ion Goldbloom - Dragon kite, mechanical dragonling and Emerald Whelpling
Lorewalker Cho - Jade ooze, mechanical dragonline, scourged whelpling

I lost several times to the tiger, until I used the "standard" BoF team of unborn val'kyr, Pandaren Water Spirit and Chrominus. I beat the crane in one go, stacking lots of magic damage. The dragon took me a few tries. And Zao, OTOH, I thought I'd never beat. Finally managed it with a team featuring mini diablo, lil' deathwing and one of my few remaining mechanicals (chicken maybe?).

The scenario only took me about 13-15 pets. For the Crane, I'd use the BoF team. Unborn Valk (Curse->Unholy), Panda Water Spirit (Geyser->Whirlpool), Chrominius (Howl->Surge of Power). I was able to kill the Crane first try using a level 19 Valk (I had used my other level 25 one on Zao).

For Xu-Fu I used Yeti/Tonk/Gnome, I only needed 2 but I think he missed a Feed. Changing his Moonlight to Call Lightning is very nice.

For Zao I used the BoF team.

For Yu'la I used Idol with Crush/Stoneskin/Deflection. This got her to around 35-40% alone, I brought in my Kun-Lai Runt and Frostshock->Deep Freeze->Takedown spammed until she died. Very easy.

I would adore some help as well? I have seriously over 250 max pets. (Anisadora on Lightbringer if this helps). I can do the tamer bits pretty easily, including using some non-max health pets (getting by with like 5 for two teams, for example).

I got down the dragon okay, but the other celestials seem to wipe the floor with me!

BoF or Beasts of Fable team is exactly what I described after I typed it. Unborn Valk/Pandaren Water Spirit/Chrominius. Works wonders on Zao

I completed this too.

Yu'la was a joke. My Gregarious Grell literally soloed him. I had two other humans lined up to beat him up but didn't' need em at all.

For the Chi-Chi I used the BoF team that has been mentioned. Only part that was tricky about it was making sure to time it so he wouldn't use the avoidance cd when everything blew him up. Nether Faerie Dragon and Sprite Darter Hatchling are suppose to work well on him but I had used them on one of my trainers so didn't have them handy.

For Xu-Fu I used a Yeti/ Bird/ Mechanical Bombling combo. Call lighting with the yeti, Swap to the bird and flock. When bird dies swap back to the yeti and metal fist once, then ion cannon. He should be almost dead and almost any mech can finish him off.

For Zao I went with my critter killing team for Beast of fable which is just three p/p zland raptors. He died to the second raptor before his wish fired. Tried a triple mechanical team first and that just didn't seem to work.

I think I had probably 25-30 pets dead by the end but that was due mostly to trying to figure out strats. If I went in and faced them again I'd probably be more like 15-20.

Finally got it after many many tries.
This is how I did the celestials.
Start with the chi-chi.
Open with ghostly skull (don't have valk) use whatever moves the first 5 turns doesn't really matter. On turn six use unholy ascenscion,he dodges on 7.
Bring in pandaren water spirit put out geyser/whirpool, maybe get off a jet before it dies.
In comes chrominius. howl, bite(because he dodges) surge, game over.
Move to ox.
open with blighted squirrel. crouch, spam stampede til squirrel dead.
Bring in darkmoon tonk shock and awe then ion cannon,ox dead.

Move to tiger
Open with tranquil yeti. lightning storm, fist,Ion cannon
Bring in cogblade raptor spam batter. That killed him but i had tonk as third pet

Move to dragon
Open with feral virmling. crush, backflip spam crush except when backflip off cd
Bring in hopling, same rotation as feral.
bring in kun-lai runt, frost shock, deep freeze then takedown.

Hope this helps someone

Went through about a hundred pets on my first attempt, but didn't have enough mechanicals to actually beat Xu-Fu. Got close with various non-mechanical teams, but always missed something and wiped at ~200 hp. I find myself hugely disappointed by the (lack of) variety in the pets you face in the tournament, as it's mostly the same stuff as you've been fighting all along and the celestial battles are pretty much exactly the same as all the beasts of fable: the only useful strategy is to just stack high DPS pets of whatever type does bonus damage to them.

Coupled with the fact that two of the four celestials are beasts, they might as well have called it the I Hope Your Brought Enough Mechanicals Tournament.

Took me 3 pets pet fight, though for most one survived. So that's 19 in total because I used rag twice and my hatchling three times.

All in all I used my Crimson hatchling the most though, used that in three fights (It had pretty much full health going into the battle with Xu)

I had both amazing fun, and such frustration at this. As people have said above, some of these pets are horrendous to try and take down.

That said: I did them all in one night, taking me about an hour and around 60ish pets, tho I didn't really investigate fully what I was facing. I was using some of my pre-made tamer-thumping teams, but they really don't cut the mustard with these guys.

Good fun, needs a little tuning to make it really strong.
